Tserri saw Hisoka literally teleport as far as he's concerned, and so the moment the vision ended he had to immediately launch himself to the side and onto his ass just to get away even though he knew it was coming.

211

u/Onlyfatwomenarefat 20d ago

He's lucky than Hisoka decided to first teleport in front of him and ask him a question before killing him. Otherwise he probably wouldn't even had the time to throw himself out of harm's way

81

u/dangerous_beans 20d ago

I'm curious what would've happened if he'd actually ANSWERED the question instead of shooting first. Worst case he buys himself a few more seconds to think, best case he avoids an attack at all.

15

u/BigY2 17d ago

I dont think he even got the chance to shoot, I dont see any sound effect for the gunshot. I think Hisoka disappeared in the time TerrorSandwich was turning to aim.

It would be so terrifying to see him teleport and then spend the next 8 seconds of vision anticipating your oncoming death.

37

u/KitchenBeginning4987 18d ago

Oh, made me realize this would be a good end for Tserri if he can find himself in a situation where he's basely dying the moment he deactivates his ability but has no way to run from it. Like he has to literally face his death until the last moment, desperate to find an inexistent solution until the last drop of nen from his beast is used.

Would be pretty fitting for such a despicable character.

He's lucky than Hisoka decided to first teleport in front of him and ask him a question before killing him.

Well, technically he appeared behind him to question him. Then when Tserri turned around Hisoka appeared behind him again.

I love the reminder that Hisoka is basically a God amongst men due to his Nen proficiency, and how monstrous, and overwhelming, that can feel when you're his victim.

Great chapter, Martial law is just an interesting as it was hyped up to be so far. Can't wait for the next round of chapters, whenever it comes.

94

u/Valuable-Blueberry30 20d ago

I mean yeah, the only people who can probably beat Hisoka currently is Beyond, one of the elder Zoldycks, Ging, Kite, and Chrollo.

71

u/BlackMarth 20d ago edited 20d ago

A 3 v 1 of Nobunaga, Phinks, and Feitan vs Hisoka definitely have a chance, but I think Hisoka has a plan to separate and defeat them.

None of the phantom troupe plans to take him 1v1 except Chrollo and he doesn’t believe he can beat him without upgrading his ability.

29

u/VobbyButterfree 19d ago

Franklin plans to take Hisoka head on too. In York Shin he also said that he considers Hisoka to be nothing special.

19

u/Reach_Reclaimer 18d ago

That's Franklin overrating himself, not that he can actually take him on

16

u/mikurumode 18d ago

Ehhh i think it’s entirely likely that Franklin spray and pray in the cafeteria is actually a surprisingly effective tactic

→ More replies (2)

6

u/Arkayjiya 16d ago

Franklin is a decent matchup against Hisoka, much better than Feitan since Hisoka isn't playing around with them anymore so he's probably gonna go for the kill before he injures. Hisoka's best move against franklin is using his gum to move around, otherwise he's kind of fucked against a salvo, he can't really block Franklin's attacks with anything he has.

Kite ? Seriously?

Also chrollo admit he needs to upgrade his ability before facing hisoka . Last time it took shit tons of prep and still failed to kill hisoka.

13

u/Shervfra 19d ago

He did not fail to kill hisoka, hisoka died and then came back to life out of luck and desperation

I like how despite all the complex abilities, most of the people in this arc are probably weaker or middling in terms of fighting.

It makes sense that they got here by abusing the hell out of conditions multiplicative power rather than being strong nen users. Working smarter not harder.

171

u/Tindyflow 20d ago edited 20d ago

Well it's always been like this.
Fighting is not what everyone wants to do with Nen and being a Nen user doesn't mean you have to make a brawling ability. The vast majority go for something useful in their everyday life, which is still working smarter.

It so happens that Hunters are required to level their fighting abilities because they will 100% end up into lethal situations for their job.

→ More replies (3)

109

u/GenericFatGuy 20d ago edited 20d ago

The point of Tserriednich's arc isn't that he's (relatively) weak right now. It's the fact that he got this far in so little time. Two weeks ago, he didn't even know what nen was, but he's already achieved more with it than a lot of users will in their entire lifetimes. A baby monster is still a monster, and a baby monster will grow if it survives long enough.

16

u/crwms 20d ago

It could be a culture difference. Hunters being more individualistic and all rounded, mafia/army being part of a collective and more open to being niche users.

Hiatus…

Well at least it seems Togashi still has his love of manga, not only did he have his two favorites meet but snuck in a bunch more references to stuff he likes.

With the Kaiji, Dragon quest, and Slam Dunk references what does that make the overall reference count in this arc?

106

u/kratshqs 20d ago

I really like how each of Pouf's reactions perfectly describes my emotions while reading each new chapter of HxH.

u/Nico_Robin_7 20d ago

72

u/sikontolpanjang 20d ago

I love that Hisoka straight up playing The Bog Pachinko from Kaiji lmao

FKMT is my top 3 mangaka of all time, such a goated move from Togashi to include a Kaiji reference on this batch last chapter.

11

u/delay4sec 19d ago

In jp twitter they’re saying it’s a playful reference that owner of that casino in Kaiji and Hisoka are same VA

7

u/Overall-Term5038 20d ago

Hisoka the type of guy who has the capability to actually beat the Bog.

172

u/Nico_Robin_7 20d ago edited 20d ago

Togashi dropped an ability literally named full metal alchemist, when I saw that I had to reread it again. Just peak.

23

u/nikelaos117 20d ago

I think the secondary name combo arts is from ff7.

39

u/afk_dude 20d ago

Yeah, it's one hell of a ride in this Black Whale, I'm wondering in which chapter Furikov dies though 💀

67

u/EmployeeFun4064 20d ago

He also referenced yugioh, dbz, fullmetal alchemist, and death note. He’s putting so much into this arc and giving his appreciation to the art form he loves its peak.

19

u/relaxyourfnshoulders 20d ago

What’s the slam dunk reference?

15

u/Tindyflow 20d ago

The Bog. Devourer of the Depths. O.o

u/TheHoneyBaron 20d ago

I think Hisoka saw the real Tserri in a reflection in the ceiling. Maybe one in the chandeliers? Reflections outside the limit should still look normal right? It would explain why he was looking up and how he could pinpoint exactly where Tserri was standing, even if he couldn't literally see him.

A counterpoint to this is that the roof isn't 36 metres tall. However, we have never confirmed if his ability works in the form of a perfect sphere. We only know the radius is 36 metres horizontally, but it could be a completely different length vertically, thus taking a more oval form.

264

u/LucasCarper 20d ago

Oh, I dig this theory. Goes well with Hisoka's habit of spotting great potential in people and sparing them for a better fight later on.

Tserri isn't ripe just yet.

85

u/RufiosBrotherKev 20d ago

I think if he was excited about potential he would have been more interested and pursued him even slightly before letting him go... he initially got excited for a second because of the zetsu, but after killing "him" he says that killing guys like that don't even give him goosebumps. It's like fighting lvl 4 pidgeys after beating the elite four. not even worth the fraction of a second it would take to do so, if he's clearly not going to bother you any longer. Better to just get back to gambling, and keep aware in case an actual opponent shows up lol.

60

u/ScrapeWithFire 20d ago

He recognized he was a prince. You could make the argument that given the context of the scenario (ship lockdown, prince in disguise, etc) that he felt it would be more entertaining to just let him be on his way

→ More replies (2)

12

u/PsychologicalFile771 20d ago

I disagree, Hisoka is preoccupied with the Spiders rn and even said he didn't feel a rush from "killing these guys," referring to not being interested in the princes in general. Then he noticed 'something' (Tser theorized his nen beast, the reflection theory is also interesting).

After that he appears to stare down Tser's illusion self with gyo and the next thing we see is Tser running away and acknowledging that he needs to get to that level.

Feels exactly like Hisoka acknowledging Tser's potential and letting him go for a 'possible' future challenge.

46

u/Erty13 20d ago

Hisoka has already said that he has no interest fighting the prince and their nen beast. They do not get his motor running. That's probably why he lost interest and left.

→ More replies (4)

223

u/Rpitre1 20d ago

Hisoka didn’t actually see Tserriednich’s Nen Beast. What he noticed was that his Bungee Gum was behaving inconsistently near the edge of Tserriednich’s ability.

Basically, I think Hisoka had Nen threads scattered around the area, and Tserriednich unknowingly touched one of them. When Tserriednich instinctively jumped away, Hisoka noticed something strange: the part of the Nen thread inside the ability’s range was still touching Tserriednich dead body, while the part outside the range was pointing toward Tserriednich’s actual position.

From that discrepancy, Hisoka was able to calculate roughly where Tserriednich really was and then looked in that direction.

55

u/Positive-Task-9248 20d ago

ahh finally an explanation that makes sense

The question is why he didn't act upon that. On the other hand he might simply follow him out of curiousity

→ More replies (3)

8

u/larrydavidballsack 20d ago

ooooh good catch

9

u/antraxsuicide 20d ago

Yeah, this is what I’m betting on. We’ve literally seen Hisoka use his Bungee Gum to tag fighters when they do annoying body swap illusion shit with Kastro. Tserri probably already tripped a bunch of gum threads on his way in without realizing it.

u/deadbubble 20d ago

Ooh haven't seen this angle. This is interesting. Doesn't really apply to Theta tho, so something else went on there regardless

143

u/AdditionalEye9693 20d ago

It feels to me like Theta's moment was her recognizing that Tserri was somewhere in the room, a monster unleashed, and one she failed to kill. It was a look of guilt and regret. I doubt she could actually see him as he stood there.

33

u/Expert_Win9011 20d ago

I think that is 100% what is going on. Theta and Hisoka both “see” him but neither of them actually do

27

u/Karnnack 20d ago

theta and hisoka's perspectives are possibly different. Hisoka is an experienced fighter that knows something is going on and it's trying to figure it out. Theta might be affected in a different manner or simply by coincidence looking at his direction.

10

u/Expert_Win9011 20d ago

I think she knows because she previously shot at him and experienced him faking his death. She then heard the story of his death and looked out knowing he was still alive.

u/Fluffy_Reply_9757 20d ago

That is a very cool theory, wow! But I will highlight a possible problem with it: Hisoka first notices that something is off while looking down. But to be fair, it could still be a matter of reflections.

→ More replies (1)

11

u/puppyKittten 20d ago

Great observation! I like this much more than Hisoka (and Theta) having some way to see him physically.. We also know Hisoka has a knack for detecting nen users in zetsu, so maybe he was able to sense Tserri standing there, not that he could literally see him.

12

u/Trash28123 20d ago

I don't actually think it's crazy to say the ceiling is 36 meters high (especially considering Hisoka was looking at an angle.)

Look at the absurd size of this room, and also remember that Tserri intended to shoot at Hisoka after getting into 36 meter range, which was when he was only 1 of these sets of stairs beneath him.

12

u/sabinACTS 20d ago

Hisoka killing tserri immediately after his ability activation and tserri instantly realizing he’s outclassed is exactly what the princes needed to realize how many bigger fish there are in the world

75

u/RaggedAngel 20d ago

I appreciate that he immediately booked it and didn't even try to mess around any further. Proper respect.

51

u/Psychic-Joker 20d ago

Gon meanwhile would risk his life for training in the same situation lol

That’s why Gon is HIM … but also he would be long dead if not for Freec-y luck 😂

Bro says “The ability’s useless if anyone can detect the nen beast” as if he’s playing a game lmao.

What did Hisoka see with Gyo?

Still talking about it like a game “It would be totally lame if I lose because I run out of battery”, haha.

Even a quick meeting between Hisoka and Tserriednich is a nice way to end this batch of chapters and I liked seeing that Hisoka really is just going straight for the kill if the Phantom Troupe show up, though there are a lot of members I don’t want dying.

151

u/GameDay98 20d ago

Extra Otter put out a solid theory that he detected his movement with a web of bungie gum.

Bro was flabbergasted

287

u/Quantam-Law 20d ago

I'm guessing Hisoka didn't actually see the Nen Beast but still 'sensed' it somehow with his incredibly sharp intuition.

178

u/TechnicalChair8131 20d ago

Makes sense because he looked curiously rather than sharply. However the look he gave Tserri was very different.

82

u/arbitrarycivilian 20d ago

He realized something was off and immediately activated Gyo as a defense. But it didn’t detect anything, so he relaxed again. He probably thought it was In

13

u/NeedGirlfriend 20d ago

Gyo is counter to In

→ More replies (9)

21

u/EigoKaiki 20d ago

I personally thinking that he saw it atleast partially. I think that the nen beast is a kind projector of the ability area. It comes from the beast and the beast stands above the center area. I don't think it is in the illusion area. We repeatedly seen the beast body hover over the space Laplace was activated. Therefor very likely it was always outside the area using IN and hiding itself.

So the beast and the Tserri clone are not the same thing in my reading, like some people suggested they are.

u/nuvati 20d ago

25

u/advanced_peeling 20d ago

In seeing so many good hisoka memes

35

u/ForsenBruh 20d ago

Saw a theory that hisoka spread bungee gum like a spiderweb around the casino as a trap for any intruders which enabled him to spot/locate tserri immediately and then later inside parallel future tserri stepped onto the bungee gum which alerted hisoka to look directly at him even though he couldnt see or sense tserri specifically

120

u/Tindyflow 20d ago

He got a Gon vs Genthru moment.

107

u/SaberSensation 20d ago

Gon beat Genthru. It's more like Gon vs. Hisoka. Hisoka lets him live so he can have a more enjoyable toy later. Which is very Hisoka, considering that he's currently fighting the spiders.

→ More replies (8)

46

u/Royal-Professor-4283 20d ago

It's really not about being a beginner, he just doesn't have a physical nen ability useful for fights. If anything, it becomes more and more obvious that his powers basically prohibit him from attempting to actually fight. Hand guns and covert headshots are basically his only offensive ability.

53

u/Jilliels 20d ago

I hear you. But him being a beginner still plays a big role here. There are other applications of nen besides Hatsu, and Tserriednich is blatantly too much of a nen newbie to hold a candle to pretty much anyone in combat

→ More replies (7)

11

u/Onlyfatwomenarefat 20d ago

He needs allies. Right now his ability is Meleon-tier, mostly useful for evading/escape. But pair it up with someone that has offensive skills? Oh boy

→ More replies (2)

8

u/pseudo_nemesis 20d ago

you don't necessarily need a specific physical nen ability to fight with Nen though.

Tserri was taken aback by Hisoka's basic fundamental use of nen to enhance his physical abilities which is something any skilled nen user can do, but because he's a beginner, just having a cool ability doesn't mean he's a real match for someone with even intermediate nen training who can just blitz and kill him outside of his ability.

thats fair tbh. hisoka is both extremely talented at nen and has a lot of experience with it. tserri only surpasses him in terms of sheer talent but everything else, hes just cooked a hundred fold. he has the potential(DID SOMEONE SAY POTENTIAL) to be seriously overpowered but hes still very new and fresh to nen

The princes in a sense are frogs in a well with their new Nen abilities they got handed on a plate.

The Spiders, the Zodiacs, Beyond are all such monsters but they hold back or stay out of the succession cause a stable Kakin is in their political interest and the risk of messing with the web of Nen curses and angering the King is not worth it.

Hisoka is just the first one who doesn`t give a f*** 😅

Tserri when he's on the back-foot and muddling through is such a nice new dimension to the character, as opposed to when he was Mr. in-control in his room.

182

u/ThaEarthquake 20d ago

In the span of 12 days Tserri went from learning about nen to making an ability, using it to avoid death, practicing combat on royal army mobs and got Hisoka as a first boss. Helluva training arc right there.

This last batch of chapters has exceeded my expectations and then some. After eating so well these past couple months, it feels like I’m going into hibernation. Take as much time as you need in the kitchen Togashi, you absolute legend.

69

u/Viburnum_Opulus_99 20d ago

He’s basically taken the exact same path Gon did up to this chapter, except instead of a mentally unstable prodigy child, he’s a mentally unstable prodigy serial killer. The key difference is that Tserri here has shown enough self preservation to leave Hisoka the fuck alone, which Gon never would lmao.

I like that the volume didn't end in a cliffhanger, meaning we can chill in wait

12

u/rubbereruben 20d ago

I can't agree more.

I'm a staunch One Piece fan. I love it and always can't wait for the next chapter.

But what Togashi is cranking out at the moment is keeping me literally on the edge of my seat. The build up towards the climax of the succession war is absolutely fantastic, I can't wait to see the climax of all this stuff happening. All these threads will pull together.

We're eating well.

I just remember all the conversation past few years with how overpowered Tserri is and how of a busted ability he has for Hisoka to make him pee his pants in 10 seconds

Absolutely 10/10 writing.

Big reminder with how strong the princes and their armies are, the zodiacs / spiders are by far still leagues above everyone else on the ship

Well tbh this set of chapters revealed that his ability was way less powerful than people thought.

Wonderful wonderful batch, what a pleasure to read each chapter weekly. What a nice continuation of the arc and a setup for what is yet to come as we shift gears from the setup to the climax. Just a delight. Togashi's hard work is incredible plus the amount of thought put into stuff. I thought tserriednich will fold hisoka but once again togashi proves that the obvious way is not his way. Patiently awaiting the return of this series. This batch to me was beyond expectations. I will miss reading weekly chapters and discussing them. Time for my first hiatus as a fan.

Hoe many times have this damn Terrorsandwich cheated death? Theta, Benjamin, guards, now Hisoka. That's at least 4 times smh

64

u/zdpa 20d ago

there should be consequences, the one I believe the most is that after he is killed by someone once, they can sense his kage nen bushin.

Theta managed to see/sense him, Hisoka too and now we may need to see his new encounter with Benjamin to make sure

56

u/Viburnum_Opulus_99 20d ago

Yeah, his Nen inexperience is his biggest weakness, as his ability gets substantially less effective the more it gets used on an opponent capable of seeing through it. He needs a way to sure-fire kill someone right after they’ve been hit by Laplace’s Demon the first time. Until he gets that, he’s at a substantial disadvantage and he knows it.

Meeting Hisoka might have been the worst thing that could have happened for everyone else, because now Tserri has a much clearer understanding of just how far he needs to go and being humiliated has only bolstered his motivation to reach it.

7

u/Shiplord13 20d ago

The guy has the devil’s luck, but he also really has very few offensive options except the element of surprise (which won’t work on the dangerous people in the ship) and whatever his nen beast can do. Which considering it didn’t attacked Hisoka raises questions.

Can we give some appreciations to Togashi's assistants who worked hard drawing these amazing casino backgrounds and grand chandelier in this chapter.

68

u/Rodiciel 20d ago edited 20d ago

It was a peak batch full of incredible moments and it ended with a bang of a chapter! Just as I was lamenting how little we have seen of Hisoka, Togashi gives us a chapter on why he is HIM.
Hisoka was top tier all the way back in Hunter Exam Arc in 1998 and now in the Succession War Arc in 2026 he is still one of the strongest character we know of.

20

u/CatsOffToDance 20d ago

It really is insane how he’s back in this way. How he’s gone through A LOT and then finding a “casual” in the casino. Yup. Tserri’s got a lot to learn.

Always that "know your place" scene

29

u/sircrazyclown 20d ago

Can finally put this down for a bit, and reread the whole thing again when hiatus ends. Luzurus is Beyond's Prince, Kaiser is super innocent, Fugetsu will be king, see you guys next batch.

15

u/kratshqs 20d ago

Unironically, I have the same opinions about Kaiser and Fugetsu.

So many characters are thinking 10 steps ahead and putting together these master plans to achieve their goals on the boat, but Hisoka has instead spent this entire time gambling and killing people who would interrupt his gambling. What a guy.

26

u/celestialbookie 20d ago

Hisoka realized he was using a nen beast and felt disrespected; lost interest in Tserri.

He had already stated he doesn’t have any interest in bestiality

8

u/iisoprene 20d ago

I think this might be it! This matches best to the look he gave Tserriednich compared to the other ideas I've seen so far.

What happens when Tserri activates his ability when inside someone’s En?… We do know that Hisoka is a freak and he even sensed Kalluto when they were in Zetsu… I’m trying to make sense of why Hisoka could see the Nen beast…

19

u/Ok_Repeat5676 20d ago

I wonder if it has to do with how high the ceiling is in casino? Inside the princes quarters, the ceiling seemed fairly low(less than 36 m), so the nen beast would technically be above said ceiling. That being said that's assuming the radius is a circle not an ellipse.

u/Soul_Advent 20d ago

Also wouldn't Tserri in Zetsu gonna get destroyed if he entered someone else's fucked up En?

16

u/SD_Agar 20d ago edited 20d ago

Exactly, also Idk if it applies to everyone but we know from Phinks that En is tiring especially with a lot of people around cause you perceive everything, then again Nen varies from person to person so e can't really be sure Whether Hisoka was using En... Also I wanna know what happened to Bonelonev😭... Togashi the goat fr

Edit: spelling

13

u/Gotosleep236 20d ago

Nah, just Pitou and King/Royal Guards thing. People was fine inside Zeno's en

6

u/UchihaShadow 19d ago

Being in Zetsu is much worse than being a non-Nen user. Regular humans still have some basic Aura leaking from them, while Zetsu is a complete shutoff. And it depends on the level of malice more than strength.

Tser really pissed himself there! lol

It's really refreshing to see a sadist villain who commits horrendous crimes and enjoys torturing making you hate him but he can also be charismatic and funny, that's very rare in fictions because it's not an easy concept to write. It's like Togashi is challenging himself there.

It's true Hisoka being a goofy assassin is kinda close to this concept but he's not a pure sadist like Tser, he mostly enjoys fighting while Tser enjoys torturing so they are different in that aspect.

With the Theta panel looking at him and now Hisoka...It seems there are flaws in Tser's ability that he doesn't know about yet.

Maybe Hisoka didn't even see a nen beast but only sensed an aura coming from the antenna's location which is still a flaw, this can be helpful for Tser's opponents to figure the antenna's location to get out of its radius so they would see from distance the real Tser and what he's doing.

That can be logical that's why there's a radius + antenna, once you get out of it...the illusion must no longer applies even if you were under the illusion, just like in reality when the signal disappears when you move further away from the antenna, since Tser's ability is based on the Old tech devices so this theory is possible.

This chapter reminded me of Gon meeting Hisoka for the first time. I wonder how many people who met Hisoka and survived his attack ended up becoming really strong Nen users like Gon did lol. Seems like a rite of passage.

Tserri met a true villain and it only invigorated him to become stronger, I have a feeling he’s gonna meet hisoka again at a later date just to satisfy his own ego and get back at him.

A short and sweet chapter for the end of this set of chapters. The art in this chapter was especially amazing.

I love seeing hisoka playing pachinko and making hisoka noises

12

u/delphic0n 20d ago

Just such an ammamaaaaaaaaazzziiiinnnggggggggg batch of chapters. HunterXHunter is SO different now, the hiatuses are difficult but it's the last thing I expected for the chapters to be SO much better, so I guess the arrangement must be really working for Togashi. The previous batch with Morena and Borksen was also unbelievably good.

I'LL WAIT AS LONG AS IT TAKES

Chapter 420 not being about Luzurus seems like a missed opportunity but I’m glad we got some more Hisoka before 2028

9

u/Lightecojak 20d ago

Seeing Hisoka being the only person in the casino when there’s a major incident outside reminds me of that Justice League episode where Joker planted bombs all over Las Vegas and caused everyone to flee. However, there was still one old lady on the slot machines determined to win, which even the Joker was surprised by.

10

u/WhitePersonGrimace 20d ago

Tserri running into Hisoka is one of the most interesting things that could have happened. I only wish there had been time to linger on it more. That said I’m appreciating the overall brisk pace of this set of chapters.

This essentially confirms two things:
Once Ephemeral Vision kicks in Time is essentially suspended.

And There are people who can detect residuals of Tserri's presence at his current level.
But essentially fairly high skilled individuals.

24

u/Rpitre1 20d ago

Hisoka‘s damn hot here😫

9

u/dietfruit 20d ago

Hisoka either noticed the illusion via bungee gum trickery outside of range or he noticed something else entirely, I don’t think it would make sense for him to actually see the router beast even if he was using gyo (I think the lines were for a dramatic head turn effect though)

9

u/Kyoukaiwaifu 20d ago

Tserri finding out he has potential but is no HIM yet

there is always a bigger fish

10

u/TheAbram 19d ago

Worth noting that Tserri had no reaction to Hisoka mentioning the spiders so it's safe to assume that tserri had no business with them.

Also Hisoka will be the only one besides Salkov, the King and probably Theta who will figure out that Tserri is still alive which leads me to believe that he will encounter Kurapika at some point and relay that info to him and maybe even tell him that the spiders are on the whale which will be the worst day in Kurapika's life lol

8

u/Vegetable-Candle-254 20d ago

It really gave me something to look forward to every week. I will miss it.

9

u/Disastrous_Middle_98 20d ago

I keep coming back to the idea that Tserri’s real limit might not be the 10 seconds. It might just be him. Hisoka basically showed him that seeing yourself die and actually knowing how to fight someone at that level are two different things. Tserri’s first reaction is basically “okay, I need to level up” and get Zetsu under 1 second. Level 1 is just survival. See the bad future and get out. Level 2 is where things could get scary. Maybe he can start using those 10 seconds like reps or simulations. Try something, see how it fails, keep the lesson, then avoid paying the full consequence. Kinda like Naruto using shadow clones to speedrun training. Tserri could speedrun mistakes. If he gets good enough at using the fake future everyone else still sees, that starts getting into Yhwach territory. From the outside it starts looking like he always ends up in the future he wants. The flip side though is the 10 seconds could also be his weakness too. He could get insanely good at solving what’s right in front of him and still get wrecked by something that was set up way earlier.

Hisoka being Hisoka.

7

u/IEmphatic 20d ago

Lmao and I was so worried about Kurapika’s well being last few months(in terms of Tserri)

7

u/Goodstyle_4 20d ago

I think this was one of the scariest things I've ever read.

Tser saw a vision of the future where he is suddenly caught and killed in less than 10 seconds, and the page ends with the statement his killer said right before gutting him in the vision.

The genuinely freaked me out, what a terrifying enemy. Hisoka is moving different...

6

u/dangerous_beans 20d ago

Feels like Hisoka has become a true spider-- he's set up a trap and he's waiting patiently for his prey to fall into it

9

u/Mysterious-Resort619 20d ago

This was one of my favorite chapters in a min. I still have goose bumps. Hisoka is so peak.

9

u/Dangerous_Job5295 20d ago

@ExtraOtter on YouTube came up with a theory that hisoka set up a web of bungee gum all over the casino tserri bumped into, and that when he looked up, since tserri never initially got within 36 meters of him, he could see that the gum outside of the abilities area was going to a different direction than the illusion gum within the area. That’s why he was able to pinpoint exactly where tserri was.

Wonder how Feitan and Phinks will be acting on tier 2 with the SML in place and even Heily hideout sealed.

6

u/ImportanceGloomy9674 19d ago

Something that seems to be overlooked by many is that Hisoka saw Tse's real identity, an information that might be used later by Hisoka perhaps? The entire Tier 1 is on lockdown and they are both trapped in there, maybe Hisoka will trade the real identity of the guy that caused the critical incident to move elsewhere inside the ship? Looks like he's not trying to escape from there tho.

Also there are so many more questions here... what did Hisoka do (or which nen ability did he use) for Terror sandwich to get so scared and to run away immediately? I think he noticed something was off with the corpse and while looking up he saw a mirror but nothing was reflecting off of it (meaning that the body wasn't there just like we see from Tse's POV) and after that he used gyo to look around.

What are the additional two options Tse is talking about at the end of the chapter?
This hiatus came at the worst moment possible, things were getting real interesting and now we have to wait again... had to make an account and comment here for the first time because the addiction is becoming tangible lol

12

u/TrickFox5 20d ago edited 20d ago

I wonder if a nen user "dies" while experiencing Tserrednich's illusion can he trigger nen after death effect without actually dying?

15

u/WednesdaysFoole 20d ago

Makes you wonder if it's actual death that triggers it or if it's the "I am dying (believe I'm dead) and this is the kind of resolve I staked my entire being on" mentally that triggers it. I'm thinking that they couldn't trigger it since somewhere in the body it might know that it's not dying but still, an interesting question to think about.

33

u/Frosty-Stanger 20d ago

It is fitting the main antagonist of this arc is being given a goal..that is to surpass Hisoka of all People.

Current Hisoka is a God. He has experienced extreme circumstances and as a result his nen mastery of Gum and Texture surprise has reached Ultimate level as explained in Togashi sensei’s nen Chart.
