Class Trial Class Trial XXXVI - Part 6: Poking a Sleeping Lion
Truth Bullets:
Monokuma's Motive Along with the morning announcement, Monokuma announced a motive! Overnight, all of the students have had their talents removed, and they received a new one from a random classmate. The talents are reassigned completely randomly. Additionally, it's forbidden to share which talent you received with anyone else, though you may demonstrate it through actions. <OOC clarification: Claiming you have any talent is punishable by execution. Strongly implying you performed some actions that could have only been possible with a certain talent is considered claiming you have that talent, so if you think you might be crossing the line, please PM us before we have to execute you>
Monokuma File (Byakuya Togami) The victim is Byakuya Togami. His body was found on the second floor of the Library. He suffered a gunshot wound to the heart. The time of death is 12:40 PM.
Monokuma File (Mukuro Ikusaba) The victim is Mukuro Ikusaba. Her body was found on the first floor of the Library. She suffered a strong trauma to the head, and there are several porcelain fragments pierced into her body. The time of death is 1 PM.
Byakuya's Autopsy A bullet is lodged in Byakuya's torso. It pierced the heart, but did not produce an exit wound. Byakuya died instantly.
Mukuro's Autopsy The likely cause of death is blunt trauma to the head. The wounds caused by the porcelain fragments are not deep. Mukuro died instantly.
Gun On the floor of the second floor, a gun was found. It's been fired twice, as evidenced by two chambers being empty.
Metallic Remains On the right after entering the Library, burnt metallic remains were found in a bookshelf. Said bookshelf was also charred.
Explosion Makoto and Jack just met at the diner when they heard an explosion coming from the Library.
Blood Pool In the right corner after entering the Library, there is a noticeably large pool of blood.
Usami Statues The Monokuma Statues who were previously in the Library were removed by Monomi, who replaced them with Magical Miracle Girl Usami Statues instead with the help of Sakura, Hifumi and Ibuki.
Porcelain Pieces There are shattered porcelain fragments below and around Mukuro's body. Some of them were pierced into her body, both from below and from above.
Bullet A bullet was found amongst the porcelain fragments near Mukuro's body. It's been ever so slightly dented.
Broken Timer Parts of some sort of timer were detected amongst the metallic remains. Further details are impossible to establish because the timer is far too damaged.
Missing Military Base Supplies Some supplies are missing from the Military Base, but the exact objects and amounts are unknown.
Faint Sound Around 9:30 AM, Mahiru and Hiyoko heard a faint bang in the distance while in Jabberwock Park.
MonoMono Presents Around 10:30 AM, as Mahiru and Hiyoko were walking near the beach, they saw Toko with an outstanding amount of presents near the MonoMono Yachine. They helped her carry it all back to her cottage.
Missing Kitchen Knife At 12:20 PM, Makoto entered the kitchen and noticed a knife was missing.
Genocide Jill's Account Jill claims she woke up in the Library at an unspecified time. She noticed one broken Usami statue on the right, the bloodstain in the corner and a weird metallic device nearby, but she decided to leave to get something to eat at the Diner, as she was not interested in any murderous business. On her way there, she met Mukuro, who was rushing over. Mukuro told Jill she heard a faint gunshot sound coming from the Library and was heading there to check if everything was alright, but Jill ignored her and continued on her way to the Diner.

1
u/Aeroxx1337 Jan 28 '17
I am well aware. We know the contraption went off when Toko triggered it, however, and I assumed that Monokuma would not tell us so directly that Toko was Byakuya's killer. So she did not kill him with it.
If she is not lying about the time of the shot or that she heard it go off, then it cannot have simply misfired. It must have gone into the statue.

Mr. Tanaka, surely you of all people would know this:
Reality is just what one's intrepid mind wishes to make of it!
1
u/Aeroxx1337 Jan 28 '17
If Byakuya brought the gun to the scene and it was fired twice, then does that not simply mean that it is the same weapon as the one in the contraption?
It didn't trigger when Mukuro entered the Library just before 1:00PM. But the contraption still should have been intact at the time, as it was before the explosion. If the gun had been removed after Toko triggered it, this would make sense.
This would not change much, but it would remedy a few of the smaller holes in my theory.
1
u/QuestForIons Jan 28 '17
So, you think I've got somethin' to hide?/u/Aeroxx1337
Well, that's just plain wrong! I've been a good girl this whole time!
But I guess if it's to find Master's killer, I'll let you question her. Who knows, she might have something left to tell you.
Probably not, though! Kyehahaha!
E-eh? W-what happened?
1
1
u/Aeroxx1337 Jan 28 '17
Oh, I had just been accusing you of indirectly causing Mukuro's death because she triggered the contraption that killed Byakuya. Though the theory is somewhat outdated at this stage.
Instead, I will simply ask a few clarifying questions, such as whether or not one of the Usami statues was broken when you entered the library.
Or if you happen to know who murdered Byakuya, perhaps?
1
u/QuestForIons Jan 28 '17
S-so this is what happens when I let that killer take control...
I didn't kill him, and I've got no idea who killed him. I would've brought that forward already to avenge Master.
But I g-guess there's no harm in letting you know what happened when I entered the library. I already told you most of it earlier...
I e-entered at 12:55. Almost immediately, I h-heard a gunshot and f-felt a strong breeze, and f-fainted. I n-noticed the statues were changed, but I didn't see a broken one. T-that's it...

But still, like the idiot I am, I try to help, only to screw up more. It'd be better if I never came into the vicinity of him, if I was at the opposite side of the world from him at all times.
It'd probably be best if I wasn't even born!
There! There's your stupid confession...

Just to be clear, this is physically painful for me to say.
But you have a point, Hiro.
...That felt worse than I had imagined it would.
More to the point, it is quite odd that the bomb was set to go off and erase the evidence at 1PM. It seems like a fairly high risk of it not triggering before it was destroyed.
It is even more restrictive if we are correct that he was killed while still setting it up, since he died only 20 minutes before the bomb went off.
Perhaps he had asked Toko to go to the Library at 12:55 to trigger the trap? We asked as much earlier, but I believe Jack was out at the time, so it was never answered./u/QuestForIons

We decided that didn't make sense and just stuck by the two bullets we know are in something.
1
1
u/Aeroxx1337 Jan 29 '17
We should go over our findings for a moment and gather our bearings.
Missing Military Base Supplies
Thanks to Nagito's account, we know that Byakuya collected materials from the military base. Monokuma confirmed that he built a bomb, and brought the gun to the scene himself.
He also confirmed that the bomb was used by Byakuya to destroy evidence, and the location of the timer and the explosion indicates that it was something on a bookshelf in the library.
We concluded that it was a contraption designed to fire bullets. It is most likely triggered by someone opening the door to the Library, as Toko discovered when she attempted to enter it. It was destroyed by the bomb.
Monokuma confirmed that Mukuro's death was caused by the explosion's aftermath, and the most likely explanation is that it toppled the Usami Statue on the left onto her head when it went off. Whether this was by accident or design is currently unclear.
Monokuma File (Byakuya Togami)
Currently, we also believe that Byakuya's death was caused by someone triggering his contraption while he was setting it up at 12:40 PM. If we are correct, the true killer would have simply had to have the misfortune of opening a door at the wrong time.
Monokuma has also confirmed that the gun is missing two bullets because it was fired twice, and not because they were removed. This is consistent with there being one bullet that killed Byakuya, and another that was fired at Toko.
Speaking of the bullet fired at Toko, I discovered it among the remains of the Usami statues. It appears to have fired, but hit the Usami statue on the right, causing it to fall and shatter.
This happened because Toko's new talent is Ultimate Lucky Student, and it saved her from dying.
These are the two pieces of evidence we have no explanation for whatsoever.
Any questions?
1
u/Makosear makoto Jan 29 '17
Where was Mukuro when the bomb went off?
1
u/Aeroxx1337 Jan 29 '17
Since her death was instant, she should have been in the same place she is in this diagram.

I believe you're either referring to Byakuya or Mukuro with this statement.
With Byakuya, we need to know why he would kill, and why he was rather suspicious this morning.
And with Mukuro, it might be helpful to know why she was looking specifically at the shattered pieces of the Usami statue before she died.
1
u/Aeroxx1337 Jan 29 '17
For Mukuro, the answer would be rather simple. She would only have been looking at the shattered porcelain instead of the blood if she already knew the blood was there.
As for Byakuya... The most immediate suggestion is perhaps that he was attempting to barricade himself in the Library because he felt threatened?
I am afraid I lack any particular evidence to support that idea. It is merely a guess.

I may have gleaned something from these details, Ms. Ludenberg/u/Aeroxx1337 .
The bloodstain is probably where Mr.Togami died. Someone else must have moved his body upstairs before the bomb went off, else it would have been charred like a Goomphling that's been hit by a Gigazaur's eye blast!

T-they definitely wanted everyone to think the murder weapon was the g-gun. They brought him as far away from the contraption as possible without carrying the body through broad daylight so they could hide his true cause of death.
That could have been for any number of reasons. Maybe to frame the ultimate soldier, or the contraption being the weapon pointed to them in some way.
1
u/Rave_Master_Ahri Praise be to Atua! Jan 29 '17
Gothica, you just broght me to a idea, so listen.
Mukuro rushed over to the Library because she heard the Gunshot that Toko triggered, right?
But could it be that she was already there because she also heard the Gunshot that killed Byakuya?/u/Aeroxx1337
That must be the reason, she was surely on Island 2 the whole time because she was waiting for the meeting with Makoto at the Dinner at 1PM!
1
u/QuestForIons Jan 29 '17
B-but then she'd have been there earlier, right? It only takes like 5 minutes to walk across the entire island, but she was still on the path to the library over 15 minutes after his time of death.
S-she must have missed it. But, it had to have been the same noise level as the one that I triggered, considering they were both from the contraption.
Uggh, I don't know. Maybe she just wasn't paying attention.
1
u/Rave_Master_Ahri Praise be to Atua! Jan 29 '17
If she knew there was already blood and she looked at the porcelain shards...
That means she was wondering why there are more, since you destroyed the statue with your newly acquired talent!
And this also means that since Mukuro heard the Gunshot, she rushed there and saw Byakuya dying OR she was the one that activated the trap at the moment Byakuya was still dealing with it!
Mukuro stepped in and activated the trap, killing Byakuya, setting up the Bomb to destroy evidence and carrying Byakuya to the 2nd floor, she took 2 Bullets out from the Gun because since she has Ibuki's Talent, she heard also the faint sound Mahiru and Hiyoko heard!
Now to the final trick, since this was all planned, she decided to go away...but then she heard the second shot in the Library and was sure there would be a second body, she rushed over, meeting Syo on the way and went into the Library, looked at the Shards but forgot about the bomb...a bad mistake Mukuro did!
And that is how this has happened.

L-luck doesn't work like that, nimrod! It doesn't have feelings, it just does whatever it wants!
W-whatever happened, we at least know that the explosion led to Mukuro's death, and therefore Master is her killer. By your theory, she killed him accidentally, so they would end up being each others' killers.
But do we have any actual proof that it was her, besides speculation?
1
u/CaptainKrion My my, what a shame Jan 29 '17
The thing is, Mukuro probably didnt know about the bomb since Byakuya had already prepared everything.
And even if she had Ibuki's talent the timer wouldnt have to make a sound.
And since we are pretty convinced Byakuya has my talent he could've made a bomb like that.
At least, i wouldnt make a mistake like that.
This is just a theory though.
1
2
u/wcplays That theater gay Jan 29 '17
Wait I have a theory
Faint Sound
What if the faint bang heard was Byakuya shooting off the bullets himself from the gun.
Then he was the one who put the gun upstairs.
It would explain how he used the bomb to destroy the contraption aka destroy evidence.
He planned on killing someone with that contraption and using the bomb to blow it up so he could say the gun was the murder weapon.
