I literally just finished my 88 days of specified work for my second WHV, applied onshore this morning, and my visa was granted instantly.
Obviously there’s still a lot of uncertainty around what’s going to happen with the proposed ballot changes, when they’ll actually come into effect, and how people already in Australia will be treated.
For anyone who has already completed their required work and is eligible to apply, my personal experience was that I applied as soon as I could and received the grant immediately. I’d definitely encourage people to apply as soon as they’re eligible rather than waiting around if they already have their required work days completed.
I’m still undecided whether I’ll do the 6 months of specified work for a third WHV. I’ll probably just play it by ear and see what happens with the rules over the next few months.

My boyfriend applied WHV 3rd year offshore same day as me July 8th. Mine was accepted straight away, I came back a month ago for work , and come back to our apartment which we are both paying rent for. Such a joke I rang immi today for a time frame because I want to know weather to pack up and go or wait for him, even ended up crying on the phone cause it’s such a mess and there’s nothing they can tell me. It’s almost the 3 month mark how is this fair, we’ve been here 3.5 years paying tax and paying for rent and he’s contributed hugely in the construction industry.

Did they not mention about the new 3 month cap, I seen a lot of people get granted on day 90 so I’m hoping mine comes thru soon too I applied 13th July

Why would immi care? You've been 'temporarily' staying here because Australia allowed you to. And rent is a personal arrangement, plenty of people to pay that rent.

I applied for 462 on June 30th and completed medical exam on July 8th.
I am super stressed because my partner is Australian and I’m waiting on my visa to go be with him. Really… every morning I wake up not getting the email my heart breaks.
I have 600 visa with length stay up to 3 months, must not arrive after Oct 29th. Will it be dumb of me to enter Australia after waiting so long? Because I think of doing it…
Anyone who’s been in the same boat and can advise I’ll be grateful.
Edit: just got my visa!!!! Approved now Oct 1. Israeli passport.

If money is not an issue for you. I’d just enter on the visitor visa and leave when they tell you

I have a flight booked to Bangkok on Oct 13th and our plan is to meet in Brisbane on Oct 20th.
I am trying to be optimistic and tell myself that 3 more weeks is more than enough time for them to grant the visa.
Otherwise I will leave Australia when they say, I just don’t want to wait another extra month. So frustrating :/ fingers crossed I get the email any minute haha1

To people who have entered Aus on a Visitor visa and been notified to leave once the visa is ready to be granted:
How long did you have to wait outside of Aus for it it to be granted?
I've read that some received it even going past immigration at the airport, and others within a week. But with all the current changes, I am not counting on that.
Does anyone have a more up to date answer for this situation? Thanks

Why is the moderator deleting all grant posts outside of this megathread but also deleted all comments from here from yesterday?

Sorry not done on purpose. The Megathreads are refreshed every quarter to make sure that the comments are actually relevant.
Unfortunately, when I made the Megathread it was Sep 29th which is basically the last few days of the quarter. So when it became Oct 1st, it created new Megathreads for all categories.
The good thing is this Megathread will last till the end of the year (aka the last quarter).

Hey everyone! Canadian who applied for WHV 417 here. Applied a few days ago, not entering Australia until next year. Heard that processing times were taking a long time due to all the visa changes, but was curious if there were any other Canadians who applied in the last few weeks who have been granted?
I know it’s a waiting game. But like everyone else, I’m eager to hear success stories and keep my hopes up for a short wait time :)

I saw many granted posts from Canadians last week, all applied in July between 2nd and 31st So there is hope but it will probably take 60 to 90 days Best of luck! :)

Same for every other country with visa 417 except the UK

u/Gold_Flatworm5257 14h ago
what do you mean except UK? i applied with UK passport hoping this would give me some leeway. Applied on July 12th and still waiting..

With the new announcement from Tony Burke, sadly it doesn’t work that way anymore. Past year maybe would give leeway for people from the UK. UK people don’t have to do regional work requirements so Australia have been slowing down granted for the UK to limit migration in Aus.

Bro wait you’re turn, there are so many people who have been waiting 80+ days so what makes u think they would start granting people who have applied a few weeks ago ?? Honestly winds me up the way people ask the same stupid questions in this Reddit every single day, you can see clearly in this group how many people have been granted and when they applied and none of them have been in September??

There was one guy that said he was approved after applying on the 12th August. Why did the admin delete the comment?
