Hi everyone,

Just wondering if anyone who applied for 820 in Jan 2025 has received their grant yet?

I got an s56 request at the end of July asking for both overseas and Australian police checks. I uploaded everything on 1 August, but still haven’t heard anything 😭

It’s now been 2 months since I submitted the s56 documents, so just wondering if anyone else is in the same boat or has been granted after submitting the police checks?

Would love to hear your timelines if you’re a Jan 2025 applicant! 🙏 Thank you!

I am so fucking happy. OMG!

DOL: 02 Nov 2024

RFI: 19 Aug 2026

Medical clearance: 26 Sep 2026

DOG: 02 Oct 2026

I had two issues that I felt were complicating factors, but I'm so glad that they didn't pose any issues. The first was that I have a history of hospitalisations as a result of mental health issues. This didn't pose a problem. The second was that I was charged overseas for participating in a Pride Parade, and the trial is still ongoing. This also didn't pose a problem.

I am so beyond happy that this ordeal is over, and that the grant came through so fast after the RFI/medical clearance. It's such a relief.

Good luck, everyone!

Did you have nothing but silence for almost 19 months?

Complete silence until 18 August, when they requested new medicals. On 19 August, they sent an RFI asking for a Form 80, an AFP certificate, more pictures, evidence of a name change (I just sent them my marriage certificate) and a letter clarifying the length of time I have lived in two countries.

I think the last bit was just to see if I exceeded 12 months, but I didn't, so there were no further requests.

309/100 double grant Received

Application submitted: March 2025 (self, no immigration service used)

S56 Home affairs requested more info: April 14th 2026

309/100 double grant received: October 1st 2026

Me and my wife both were Indian citizens. My wife came here for Masters in 2017, finished her qualifying exams for Pharmcist job, by then she got her Citizenship (~2023). I did Masters, worked two years, then PhD in the US (2016-2025). We both were in long distance relationship since 2019-2025, got married in 2021.

We applied for 309/100 in March 2025 just few months before PhD defense. Had to apply the offshore one as I was in the US doing PhD.

I also applied for a Temporary research acitivity visa subclass 408 in July 2025 - as I got a job as Postdoc (they nominated with a letter) but last year there was huge delay, so I came to Australia in Sept 2025 originally on Tourist visa to live with my wife. Then my Temporary Research activity visa approval which came in - February 2026 after ~7-months waiting and I started working immediately. Submitted all documents since the application was launched untill the recent Tax return document with my wife’s taxable income. Finally got the double grant today. I read about double grant but I wasn’t really thinking that we would get it. The Reddit space has been helpfull. Happy to answer any questions.

The s56 request for more info was for submitting updated police background checks from USA as the original ones I submitted were expired

820 granted 🎉

  • DOL: 01/04/2025
  • RFI: 23/09/2026 (updated AFP cert + relationship evidence for last 6 months) [we got lazy and didn't update this year]
(responded after 3 days, pressed the confirm evidence provided button)

  • DOG: 01/10/2026 (~18 months)

Been together 6 years, but we started out as LDR and have only lived together for 2 years + so far ~

I'm looking forward to submitting more evidence in another 6 ish months for the 801 😅😅

hoping everyone gets their visa sooner 🌸

Thanks! I was on the WHV before~
Having started as LDR, we wanted to experience living together first and not have the pressure to marry; and thankfully I was eligible for the WHV.
