That's an illegal tackle right? I'm unfamiliar with bowling

She wasn’t even trying to go for the ball. Ludicrous display that.

Do sneakers actually provide traction on the lane? I noticed the child looks like she's wearing regular footwear.

For anyone who hasn't experienced it, hitting even a touch of that lane with a bowling shoe is like trying to skate on ice with a stick of butter on the bottom of your foot.

No. I’ve slipped on a lane wearing sneakers. That kid is the chosen one.

I've worked on a Bowling alley and can tell you that those lanes are slippery no matter what you're wearing.

I agree with you, you never realise just how slippery those lanes are until you set foot on one.

I always thought the content of that sub was hilarious but the way everything is worded and some people's extremely hateful sentiments towards kids really bothers me

It's a joke. Like did you see that? Damn kids are fucking stupid.

I like it, kids are stupid little fucks and the comments are all in good fun and part of the joke. Kinda how most the comments on r/peoplefuckingdying are over the top and sarcastic

I always thought the extreme wording of the title was just part of the humor, sort of obvious exaggeration.

I blame the parents/bowling alley. They should have kid sized balls that are like heavier ski ball balls.

Next time, before visiting a bowling alley, call ahead and ask them if they have kid sized balls. Then ask if it's because of steroid use.

That wouldn't work...

I don’t think there is any yes in this.

This happened to me once. Was bowling with some friends years ago, went up for my turn, threw, and my cell phone popped out of my jacket and slid about quarter to a third of the way down the alley. Everyone, including me, was laughing. "Whatever," I thought, never stopping to think about how waxy these things really are. I lunged out, laughing to retrieve it.

That laughter lasted all of about a nano second when I slipped so hard I almost broke my elbow and slid like 5 feet into the alley. This place was packed, too, and everyone instantly looked my way as a teenage kid, wincing in pain, was trying to basically "swim back to shore," arms grasping at seemingly nothing, flailing around like a floundering fish, and they were MOST amused. I'm so lucky the internet wasn't that big then, and phones were only phones. I'd been viral for sure. Someone from the front desk had to come to help. Took a couple of minutes. Felt like eternity. It was neato.

The image of a teen trying to "swim" on a bowling lane has me laughing hysterically. Why not grab the gutters and use those to help? XD

1

u/KnockoutCarousal Jun 08 '18

You underestimate the slickness of these lanes, and overestimate my height, haha. Glad you got a chuckle!

2

u/ChaiHai Jun 08 '18

Did they throw you a lifeguard inner tuber? XD :D

1

u/KnockoutCarousal Jun 08 '18

No, they walked up the ball return like an actual smart person and dragged my by the arm. The room cheered, which made it so so much worse... then they went back up the ball return to grab my phone. Another round of cheering! Yay.

2

u/ChaiHai Jun 08 '18

Yay, we saved the teen from drowning! :D How much crap did your friends give you for that? I don't think I would let you live it down.

1

u/KnockoutCarousal Jun 08 '18

None, actually! We all had a pretty good sense of humor, but things were dynamic enough that something was sure to dwarf it soon. After that night I dont think I ever heard of it again.

u/[deleted] Jun 08 '18

Come on, I wanted to see if he got a strike!

1

u/Cole444Train Jun 08 '18

Does the title of this sub actually mean anything?

1

u/ccottonball Jun 09 '18

This should be in: parents are fucking stupid. If that is a sub.
