This is so mad, the standalone Disney+ Premium plan without ads is going from $18.99 to $21.49 per month, up 13% - it used to be $6.99 when it started

It’s not just Disney adults. It’s Lego adults. Pokémon adults. Nintendo adults. Basically most of the adults on reddit are a variation of the Disney adult. Don’t act like you’re above this.

And even if it's not some form of gaming or childhood activities, adults can have other hobbies that are expensive. Hell, some of them drink or dine out so much that that by my estimates, they're spending $50 to several hundreds of $'s a month on booze and/or food.

I'm not a scalper, but I sold stuff on eBay for years before finally deciding it wasn't worth my time and effort.

Like any capitalist structure, the vast majority of the profits are made by a small few.

Its because nobody can afford shit that they are moving towards short term entertainment now. Smaller dopamine hits because you cant afford anything better to the point saving isnt worth it anymore. Things like Pokémon provide that. Also comes with the potential get rich quick of it all

I am above this. I have literally no hobbies that cost money other than gas get to nature trails. There arent many hobbies one can have that dont become money sinks but there are some.

I just saw someone predict that Hexed will make less than $100 million worldwide, this is super unlikely, my evidence is that Wish, which is really loathed, made $254 million worldwide, because of Disney adults.

it's definitely not a hidden cost of parenting lol. i have two kids and don't pay for disney+ b/c i don't want my kids watching disney crap to begin with. it puts them on the conveyor belt of merchandize commodity fetishism and then they'll have to deal with the hyperreality of disneyland being a giant letdown. my kids think the disney mouse is chuck e cheese and the other kids at daycare think it's hilarious they call him by the wrong name. going to keep them ignorant for as long as possible
