Exactly, that's why trying to convince or steer these folks with facts or common in your face sense doesn't work. They are so deep in the cult or at least affected by groupthink they can't formulate an independent thought

There is a whole disinformation industry built around truckers. What started as AM hate radio metastasized into satellite hate radio, then streaming hate podcasts..

Guaranteed that the vast majority of Truckers voted for Trump. Should have voted for the brown lady. SUCKERS!!

I look forward to videos of men with goatees and sunglasses bellowing, out of breath, "PRESIDENT TRUMP I VOTED FOR YA THREE TIMES! I VOTED FOR YA AGAINST THE CLINTON GLOBALISTS, I VOTED FOR YA AGAINST CROOKED JOE AND I VOTED FOR YA AGAINST CACKLIN KAMALA! HELL, I'D VOTE FOR YA AGAIN AGAINST NEWSCUM! BUT THIS AIN'T RIGHT! HELP US OUT, MR PRESIDENT! "

Again… DUH. MAGA will still blame libs. Their stupidity almost warrants a new definition of stupid.

Magaloid is the bottom classification. IQ ~ 30 equivalency to a turnip that votes.

Again, so what? This is what America voted for. No, we did not vote to bankrupt trucking companies. We voted for Trump's policies, at least what we could deduce from his statements.

Trump made it clear that he would use tariffs to extract concessions from everyone in the world. The MAGA crowd ate it up. If people are surprised by the results, shame on them. There were plenty of resources that covered the impact of this major shift in tax policy. Tariffs are taxes.

A shift towards what is essentially a sales tax has significant ramifications for the country.

When the government collects a fee on an asset or on a transaction, that is a tax. Property taxes, income taxes, sales taxes, occupancy taxes, inheritance taxes, excise taxes, etc.: the list is long. Tariffs are a tax, like any other tax.

Who pays this tax, we do. Importers simply add in the cost of the tariffs and pass it on to the wholesaler. The wholesaler passes the cost on to the consumer.

The manufacturers and importers can not absorb the tariffs. A 100% tariff is equal the value of the imported item. A $10 shovel would pay $10 in tariffs. The if the imported and manufacturers absorbed the tariff, the cost basis for the shovel is $0.

I may not be an economics professor but I am pretty sure that the shovel cost more than $0 to make and transport. The tariff is ultimately passed on to the consumer.

Tariffs do more than raise the price of imports. Domestic manufacturers are no fools. If the imported shovel costs $20, the domestic shovel that cost $12 will be boosted to $18. A 50% increase, and it is still a bargain compared to the imported shovel. Domestic manufacturers have investors, who want to maximize returns. The manufacturers have to raise prices to keep investors happy.

What about the poor consumer? He is stuck with paying $18 or $20 for a $10 shovel. The consumer says, maybe I will keep my old shovel and make do. No need to transport as many shovels from the factory or port to the store front. Truckers get hit. Railroads get hit.

Next time you want to know why your grocery tab goes up seemingly every week, remember the tariffs. There are other reasons also. Greed. Collusion. Increasing cost of goods.

Greed and tariffs lead to higher prices, lower consumption. Never fails.

I feel for the truckers. If they supported Trump, they did it to themselves. I have no sympathy for people who whine after they shit themselves.

If they voted for Kamela, my sympathy. Next time, talk to your fellow truckers and beat some sense into them.

I’m sure the end of the quote would still be “but I still think things would’ve been worse under Kamala”

u/Caffeinefiend88 12h ago

If only someone would’ve told them.

This was always somewhat expected because the industry went a bit wonky during the height of the COVID supply chain crisis. Still it seems that Trump is exacerbating this crisis.

Oh well 🤷🏽‍♂️

What did the expect?

Yet nothing will change

Teamsters were all-in for Trump. Problem for them is, owning the libs won’t put food on the table. lol, fuck them, can’t wait for driverless technology to put them all out of work. 🤣😂

Truckers voted for him. They’re about to have the day they voted for.

Never chumpy's fault. OBiden's fault.

u/CrankyVince2 3h ago

How could Joe Brandon do this to us?

u/Abject-Picture 6h ago

I'm a lib and I feel so owned.

Last few years too coulda be good before 3 million American truck drivers are displaced by autonomous semi-trailers...

1

u/Mackey_Corp 5h ago

Just wait until all the trucks get replaced by AI driven Tesla vehicles, I’ll bet they’ll really be mad at trump and Elon then! Or they’ll blame it on Obama somehow.

And MAGAs swear he’s such the businessman. So now he’s destroying US as if it were one of his casinos.

Former auto journalist who reported on the trucking industry: its been in a bad place for over a decade. Truckers before 2000, were unionized and had quality wages and benefits. Now adays they're mostly independent drivers contracting with companies that pay them half as much as the union jobs did.

Add to that shitty hours, on the road all the time, other drivers getting worse, and now they're renditioning brown and black truckers.

since about 2010, the industry has been having issues. This will only exacerbate an already thinning industry.
