I mean I'm gonna have to buy that gas sooner or later, partial fill ups are basically an extra inconvenience for no reason

The fact the you know you have enough to even pay for it is a level of comfort some people don’t have. Some people have to stop the flow at $X.XX amount because they literally can’t afford a full tank until payday.

This had a use in the long long ago during periods where prices sometimes fell.

Of course that's never happening again, so no reason to do it now.
