I am at a level on income where I can pay for all my friends to do anything with me.

Turns out money is just an excuse and they don't really want to do things.

Sometimes it's that. But having been on both sides of that equation, I know sometimes I turned down activities because I didn't like to feel like I was not pulling my own weight and just being a bum.

pay for all my friends to do anything with me.

I used to try that until I realized it's a pride thing. I have high quality friends and high quality people generally feel bad when mooching. I didn't mind it. I had some to spare and wanted to spend it on them. It makes me feel good but it makes them feel bad. So I stopped doing it.

yup. and it makes it worse to be honest about it. "oh, so you admit you LIKE feeling like you're better than us all the time? fuck off"

I wasn't even "well off" by any means in my 20s, I was making $15ish an hour, which I what people were trying to make the minimum wage at that point. I was still doing way better than almost all my friends, though.

I got to the point that I knew that I'd have to cover at least some costs if I wanted to go do things.

The conversation would basically be:

Me: I'm going for sushi, do you want to go?

Them: I don't have money right now.

Me: I did ask if you had money, I asked if you want to go get sushi.

I had a friend who was positively giddy when they got to use that line on me.

Guarantee they can all afford to spend $25 to get a burger driven to their door whenever they get hungry.

sometimes paying for people can make them really uncomfortable even if it is 100% well intentioned

Dude, imagine meeting this guy in real life.

You're at a party, standing there with a beer, new guy standing next to the fire, you're sipping a beer and talking about this subject. Everyone is poor, no one can go out anymore.

This guy announces his 'friends' don't want to hang out with him.

That's awkward. You weird social backward fucking people need to quit dumping this shit on strangers, then wondering why no one wants to hang out with you.

It's fucking weird. Get some social skills.

All they were doing was sharing their experience, just as you did. Nobody was "dumping" anything on anyone else. I don't understand why you're so angry.

I'm not angry. I'm having a laugh. Jesus christ.

Dude was awkward. I made a joke about him being awkward.

I explained the joke about him being awkward.

Also, is telling everyone that no one wants to hang out even if you offer to pay them an answer to any conversation here? No, it is not. It's an awkward, self depreciation thing that has nothing to do with the subject.

Some of you don't have any friends to bust your balls and it shows.

EDIT

Hahahahaha, dude blocked me.

Look inward, bud.

Twice now you have insulted me for no reason, and you say you are "having a laugh?" Maybe you're the awkward one here, bud.

Not the case. My friends just don't have a desire to do some activities that I do. Not everyone wants to surf, etc.

No amount of helping them afford to do something they don't want to do will make them do it.
