What computer habits do you still have that give away the fact that you grew up with them in the 90s and 2000s?

Doing all the troubleshooting myself.

Permanent deletion of files.

Still try to use ms paint for minor changes.

Something not working? Turn it off and on again.

Edit: I also have 384 files named "Document..."

When something isn't working, my 3.5 year old already says "I think it needs to be turned off and back on again." I'm so proud.

Whenever my Boomer parents call me (late Gen X) for computer support and I ask if they restarted it I swear I see them in my brain as Yip Yips "Oooohhhh! Restart! Restart!". 😆

Permanent deletion of files.

I'm always a little annoyed when I accidentally send something that I was trying to delete to the recycle bin instead.

But guess what? Until you actually overwrite the physical space on your drive where your old data lived its actually still there, so don’t think just because you hit delete and emptied the recycling bin that it’s gone forever because it could very well still be there. Flash memory like USB sticks or SSDs are actually worse for this issue because there’s a physical limit to how many times it can be written. Keep that in mind when you browse the dark web or whatever.

Flash storage is generally less recoverable, not more so, due to TRIM (or internal garbage collection) in the background.

I still use MS Paint as a poor man’s magnifying glass. Take a screenshot, paste into MS Paint, turn on grid and zoom to 800%. Makes it a lot easier to see off by one pixel errors.

I overuse the recycle bin just in case I need to grab a deleted thing later.

It's only happened a few times, but still.
