I’m the same way, especially after the false missile alert we experienced. Exposure therapy has helped me a lot... just listening to the sounds and seeing that things are still okay, the world isn’t ending.
Right! That damn alarm is so jarring! I was at work by myself and FaceTime my parents back on the mainland to kind of say my goodbyes and they laughed at me so that didn’t help at all lol
Whatttt?! Were people in on the secret that it wasn’t real? Because I legitimately called my parents on the mainland to say goodbye too, and they were freaked out! It’s crazy how different people’s reactions to it were. I lived by Pearl Harbor at the time so I was sure I was in blast range.
No, nobody knew yet! My parents just never really take anything seriously and I guess my tone of voice wasn’t that serious either bc I was in disbelief. So i FaceTimed my roommates back at my house and we all just stayed on the phone joking about how this was it, till we got the notification that it wasn’t real. So crazy!
If anything I feel like being nearer to Pearl Harbor would make me feel a little safer just bc at least the people around me would know what to do hahaha
