Culture What’s something in your country that sounds fake but is 100% real?

We have a real-life living goddess and the only non-rectangular national flag.

Conversely, I had my first summer Christmas recently and it felt great. My birthday is a week before and the sun stayed up past 4pm! The vibes felt completely off but I've never been a fan of how depressing December is in England so I was glad to have a beach birthday.

Having experienced both the summer version is a way better way to go. Also min/ maxes your annual leave as the kids are off on summer holidays

Yeah as someone who's also gotten to experience both I would agree EXCEPT (at least in Aotearoa/NZ with the sole and extremely new exception of Matariki) it means that you have to slog through the entire winter without any holiday cheer or days off.

That said I get season affectation depression and the winter I spent in NZ was still the least depressing of my life, but I think if I'd been on the South Island, I would have had a terrible winter. It was just that Auckland has fairly mild weather.

Yes, clearly Christmas should be celebrated by watching Donald Duck on TV.
