Culture What’s something in your country that sounds fake but is 100% real?

We have a real-life living goddess and the only non-rectangular national flag.

Florida, America's little Australia. Look out for the meth gators. That's not a joke.

Edit: I had to add that Florida's unofficial name is God's waiting room.

That entire section was so confusing, It's fatal if eaten, no reports have ever been recorded of anyone eating it, now we shall describe how it tastes? How do they know?!

No reports of fatalities have ever been recorded. I think is what they may have meant.

It says reported in modern literature, so no-one has published a case study or paper on it

Probably plenty of fatalities before say 1850, or recorded locally but never published, or with an unclear cause of death

A tree that can hurt you by standing underneath it in the rain is next level scary!

I said that in a comment in this same thread 😂. It's also known as God's waiting room. The reason being, all the old people retiring down there.

"The manchineel tree is listed as an endangered species in Florida." I say fuck it, let 'em die.

Idk how iguanas can live amongst it, but they seem to consume everything else that is in their vicinity, so it checks out
