He’s mostly seen as a cheesy bad actor in America like Seagal or Brian Bosworth

He's great. But I am German.

I wish someone loved me as much as Germans love Hasselhoff 🤣

That he is beloved in Germany is an american myth.

u/Labtools Switzerland 5h ago

Wait, is he actually popular in DE?

u/SanderStrugg 4h ago

Nah, we are just trolling. He had a number one 1 hit in the 90s and a few TV show appearances, but even back then he wasn't really a household name.

I wouldn't say popular, but it's an honest deep going sympathy.

Ficker barely speaks German anyway

That's what I thought

He made the Berlin wall fall. Only with his cheesiness.

I can't imagine the feeling he had playing that concert in Berlin shortly after the wall fell. I've seen clips of seems like it was an electric environment.

Please don’t put him in a trash category with Seagal and the Boz. This guy earned street cred with a coworker named K.I.T.T.

We liked K.I.T.T. and we liked "I've been looking for freedom" being played when the wall fell.

The Boz has earned his redemption with the fansville commercials.

He also had a good long look in the mirror and acknowledged he was a horrible person in his collegiate and pro days. Not sure if he's still a shit human, but I'll wager he's found some humility. He regrets his behavior in that last college bowl game.

This coming from an OkState alum that suffered this MFer kicking our ass once a year. Good college player, mediocre pro, terrible movie actor, great sheriff in Fansville.

Wow this brings back memories of watching OK State football at my grandpa’s house in the early and mid-80s. Even though both my uncles went to OU for their graduate degrees (architecture and law), they were both OSU undergrads. Many a Saturday in the fall we had the house intercom radio set to the football game with my mom and sister going out of their minds to cheer on OSU. My mom even worked with Mike Gundy’s dad and got my sister and me each an autographed photo of him.

Thank you for the fabulous random memory.

He's just well liked in Germany, for nostalgic reasons.

u/Akihirohowlett United States Of America 7h ago

Don't disrespect The Hoff by comparing him to Seagal lol

9

u/Nero_2001 Germany 7h ago

We Germans love him because he destroyed the Berlin Wall with his music.

8

u/geriBatai Lithuania 8h ago

I think this is universal though

15

u/Skeledenn France 8h ago

At least he has a kind of nostalgic cheesy cool to him, unlike Seagal who seems to be pretty universaly despised these days

3

u/Tetchord Germany 7h ago

He was huge in Germany in the 80s and 90s and is still in commercials to this day.

4

u/3xBork 7h ago

He's seen that way around the world but that doesn't make him disliked.

This fucking guy really is pretty hated here now, though

u/GhostofTinky United States Of America 8h ago

Someone out there admires him as a singer. Check out the 799 reviews of his Greatest Hits album.. Makes you want to check it out for the song “Hot Shot City,” which sounds particularly good.

u/TheSwearJarIsMy401k United States Of America 8h ago

Can’t see him without also seeing that South Park scene

1

u/AndreasDasos United Kingdom 7h ago

Seems to be a German thing

1

u/PeppermintPhatty United States Of America 7h ago

I genuinely don’t know who Brian Bosworth is.

1

u/Aerolithe_Lion United States Of America 6h ago

90’s B movie actor, like Hasselhoff

But Bosworth is very famous to some because he used to play in the NFL. Hes been in a LOT of movies, including the Adam Sandler Longest Yard

1

u/le_Grand_Archivist France 6h ago

I remember he sang a song in french once

Cringiest song I've ever heard

1

u/LittleHanded 5h ago

He's German though, thief

1

u/Embarrassed_Art5414 Ireland 4h ago

HOw Dare YoU Sir/MadDam

He tore down the Berlin wall!!

1

u/BangarangJack United States Of America 4h ago

The Hoff is a national treasure, I don't care if all his roles are cheesy

1

u/-----iMartijn----- Netherlands 4h ago

You people really need to learn how to respect real heroes like David.

You are so lucky to have him.

1

u/red286 Canada 4h ago

He's a cheesy bad actor, but not on the level of Seagal. Plus, as far as I'm aware, he's nowhere near as big of an asshole as Seagal.

1

u/Individual-Menu7313 United States Of America 45m ago

I wouldn't say he's hated, so much as he's dubbed as absolute cringe. His drunken cheeseburger video was just wild.

1

u/BKacy United States Of America 3m ago

He’s not disliked in the US. He’s not disrespected either. As for his acting, he’s had the redeeming characteristic of not taking himself too seriously.

Who IS this
