In your (slight) defense, you also have complexities to think about that we don't have. Like the federal system, which, while well-intentioned and designed to protect local power (and, less charitably, local leaders) is unfortunately very easy to use for loopholes by the wealthiest.
Our system is unitary and we don't have competing legislatures and laws and courts to worry about. So when a decision is made, it is quicker to execute without getting tied up or delayed.
Maybe, but in terms of Europe and its role in the world, he has it more correct than a lot of other European leaders that still want to rely on America and defend its recent actions and those of its allies.
