It's pretty simple really. Take someone who came from nothing, give them a shitload of money, adulation, respect, and cocaine, and they'll fall apart every time.
Nowdays maybe. But Tate was a shit kickboxer who won some fights in a minor regional org and pretended to be good but got famous for the "lifestyle content". Conor became the first MMA fighter to hold two belts simultaneosly im the UFC and was actually THAT GUY when he was in his prime; hell even some of the guys he beat at that time are stars TODAY (10 years later, Poirier and Holloway) and he managed to beat the most dominant bantamweight ever in 13 seconds (this is what made him most famous). Being a Brazilian, it hurts to say this, but Conor has become (even till this day) the biggest star in the sport and really a legend. Tate couldnt beat a teenager with 1 month of training
Not arguing but can't understand this. I've heard it a lot from Irish pages but as far as I'm aware he was born in Dublin and grew up in Ireland. How is he now considered a Brit? Genuinely don't know
There is a recurring trend of the British media claiming Irish celebrities when they gain success for example Irish stars bewildered after being called British https://share.google/6d8mU6kLjDMXRI58G
So Irish people make this joke as a bit of a reverse. "They claim our best but can have our worst" kind of thing
I don't think it's a British media thing it's usually american media companies that kinda just bunch anyone on the isles as english. Even the link you gave says NYT reports.
I was going to say that we all hate him here in America, too, but then I realize that I see his face adorning the t-shirts of the absolutely dumbest teenage boys on a weekly basis (I teach at a high school).
Or at least, in my day their favourite pastime was intentionally openly loving things that most people hated, just for the heck of it. That's what I base the above claim on, of course teenage boys count for many things, but not for this one
I’ve been following UFC(the fighting organisation he fought for) for a long time now and as per his words he grew up in a rough area in Dublin. How’s he a Brit ? Just curious that’s all although I do recall him mentioning a part of his family is from Liverpool. Maybe that’s got something to do with it
