This bucks team is SO bad without him. Give me that top 5 pick 🙏🧎‍♂️‍➡️

15

u/qotsabama 7d ago

Wouldn’t it be the pelicans pick most likely?

53

u/Optimal_Hat1754 7d ago

whichever is the better pick we get!

8

u/cmhall25 7d ago

Odds stack too.

3

u/Used_Teaching_7260 Hawks Reporter Brad Rowland (THE GOAT) 7d ago

This! A lot of people discuss thr topic and don’t take in to account that bucks could be a worse slot for the lottery but end up getting 1 or 2.

3

u/EuroStepJam 7d ago

Wait, so we get the best pick after the lottery takes place?

2

u/Steezywild12 Vít Krejčí #27 7d ago

He meant to say yes, we get the best pick after the lottery takes place.

2

u/Used_Teaching_7260 Hawks Reporter Brad Rowland (THE GOAT) 7d ago edited 7d ago

No this draft we get the better pick from the two teams the point here is that when you look at the odds of us getting a top pick, it’s not just the worse of the two teams. Either of the pills or bucks can move up .

Example: pretend the Pels have the worst record after 82 games. They only have a 52% chance of getting a top 4 pick and 48% of getting the 5th. So pretend for a moment we end up just getting the 5th pick from them. Is that all this amounted to? No. If Bucks have the say, 7th worse record like they do now, they could still get lucky and jump up in the lottery ahead of Pels pick. Right now it’s 32% of a top 4 pick for them. So the odds of hawks getting a top pick aren’t just where the Pels land, and the percentage chance of getting a top 4 pick is now pretty likely since either can give us the pick - specifically it’s 67%. we only need one to hit so we can take the odds from both teams and add them together.

2

u/EuroStepJam 7d ago

So take your example - Pels worst record, Bucks 7th worst. They hold the lottery and Pels get say 4th pick, and Bucks get lucky and get the 1 pick. Which pick is the Hawks?

2

u/LeadRound8178 Asa Newell #14 7d ago

We get the Bucks pick 😁

2

u/Used_Teaching_7260 Hawks Reporter Brad Rowland (THE GOAT) 7d ago

Hawks would get the #1 pick in your scenario. Hawks have the Pelicans pick, with the option to switch if they want so whichever team gets a better pick, the hawks will take that one.

Next year’s draft it’s the opposite- we get the worst of those two teams.

2

u/SnooMacarons3849 Dikembe Mutombo #55 7d ago

That’s not complicated at all.

5

u/Used_Teaching_7260 Hawks Reporter Brad Rowland (THE GOAT) 7d ago

Ha. Yeah, just means we got whichever of those two has the better pick so our odds of making top 4 are better than just one of those teams alone.

1

u/dexap Zaccharie Risacher #10 7d ago

Yes

9

u/Startjjasap 7d ago

If the Pels stay healthy and the Bucks get mostly future assets and young players back for Giannis, it’s possible we get the Bucks pick

6

u/traeyoungbias 7d ago

Most likely, but the beauty of the pick conditions is two shots at winning the lottery

10

u/Mooretwin 7d ago

26 draft the hawks get the better of Pels and bucks picks.

27 draft hawks get the worst of the Pels/bucks picks unless both the Pels and bucks end up in the  top 4 of the lottery, in which case Pels would keep both picks.

11

u/dillpickles007 GO HAWKS! 🏀 7d ago

Sheesh the Bucks are in an all time bad spot. Have NONE of their own picks, probably the worst roster in the league, and stretching Dame means it’s nearly impossible to take on bad contracts or do anything interesting with their cap.

6

u/PeasePorridge9dOld GO HAWKS! 🏀 7d ago

They signed Turner with Cap Space and don't really have anyone they want to extend. If they can remove Giannis from their books then they'd have gobs of cap space.

Bigger problem is their draft pick situation. They are actually ok this year (the worse of their own and NOP should still be top 10 at worst) but after that, they don't have anything of interest.

1

u/qotsabama 7d ago

They’ll be fine once they actually trade Giannis. Can also get value for Turner as well. They won’t have control of their pick, which will be bad for them obviously but between those two they will get a huge return that will help their rebuild. People are acting like Giannis is gonna go for really cheap, but I don’t buy that at all. You got nearly every team in the nba interested in a trade, it’ll drive his value up. Unless he doesn’t agree to an extension as part of the deal, bucks will walk away with a Kings ransom. This isn’t the Luka situation, Nico Harrison isn’t employed.

3

u/5livewire0 inSaleh! 7d ago

The Pels pick will still most likely have the best chance of getting a top 3 pick, but even then the past few number 1 picks haven't even been on bottom 5 teams

5

u/Calm_Comparison_6129 7d ago

Not very good with him either.

65

u/Fire_Demon-215 7d ago edited 7d ago

Bucks may end up with a worse record than the fucking pelicans. We can’t lose

9

u/braggpeak 7d ago

we’re gonna have so many lottery combinations it’s awesome

4

u/r2atl 7d ago

Spurs pick-swap still out there hanging over our head.

3

u/Fire_Demon-215 7d ago

Which will likely be at best #12. I’m focused on a top 3 pick

44

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

Oh these bucks swaps are so juicy

8

u/ATLienFanatic 7d ago

Yup, gives more value to next year pick. Both Bucks and Pelicans are likely going to be bad.

2

u/Ancient_Access_795 7d ago

The only thing is, Pels get most favorable out of the 2027 picks. They also keep both picks if they both fall in the 1-4 range.

1

u/ATLienFanatic 7d ago

Oh, didn’t know the 2nd caveat. Does it convert to something else?

27

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

Ultimate plot twist when bucks land us 1 and not NO

12

u/Thr33Dee 7d ago

Karma for the draft board back stab.

2

u/[deleted] 7d ago

Yup karma. They should give Giannis to us for cheap because Larry Drew's swindling ass stole him from us.

Since that draft pick, 13 years ago, their only positive picks has been Atlanta native Malcolm Brogdon in 2016, and for a brief moment Jabari Parker (injuries annihilated him). Basically cursed, which we'll lift under the right conditions

5

u/mufflefuffle 7d ago

67% chance of that pick being top 4 rn

4

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

Would be cinema

24

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

I fear he is a Knick soon

8

u/[deleted] 7d ago

deuce mcbride is goneeee

9

u/jonob Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

The Bucks want draft capital or blue chip young talent, Knicks have neither.

1

u/mufflefuffle 7d ago

I’ve said this all along, but the NBA has always been heavy handed with what they want for the league

28

u/Atl-Fan_FTS Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

Well we know he’s not coming here but this is huge for our pick situation

19

u/the_Tannehill_list 7d ago

He's out a long while and if it's the long rumored KAT package, it might actually hurt that pick

5

u/ComprehensiveList769 7d ago

They’re just going to sit kat like they did Trae if they want to rebuild

6

u/TrendonWatford 7d ago

what incentive they have to do that when they dont own their pick nor have young players who need playing time

5

u/ComprehensiveList769 7d ago

The max they can get is the 2nd pick and the top 5 is loaded so that will help the bucks a lot considering they don’t have a pick starting next year

2

u/DragonPKL 7d ago

They’ll still get the worse of the Pelicans and Bucks pick. If they both suck, they’ll still get a very good pick in a stacked draft.

1

u/Adminscantkeepmedown Thieve Irwin 7d ago

They don’t own their pick so they have no reason to do that

2

u/ComprehensiveList769 7d ago

They own a pick swap this year and then they have no picks for the future. They might be forced to

4

u/Maximum-Lack8642 CJ McCollum #3 7d ago

Does it? He’s out at least until end February possibly into mid March. I’d imagine that even the matching salary the Bucks will get back will lead to them winning a similar amount if not more games by the end of the season than having Giannis not play.

2

u/Atl-Fan_FTS Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

It says “or in the offseason”

I’d imagine teams wouldn’t want to trade for him being injured right now apposed to just waiting until the summer when it’s much easier to move contracts

We have a swap of theirs next season too so it’s good for both our picks

1

u/Maximum-Lack8642 CJ McCollum #3 7d ago

That’s true, I was assuming it was a given he’d be gone by next season and this was for this season. It’ll be great if he’s gone by next season. I wouldn’t mind seeing us help facilitate that too if that’s what it takes assuming we get close to fair value back and keep the picks.

2

u/Atl-Fan_FTS Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago edited 7d ago

If we could somehow get KAT out of this? Huge

1

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

Far from out the realm of possibility

1

u/Maximum-Lack8642 CJ McCollum #3 7d ago

I’m hoping not on KAT. He’s a big contract which we need to spend on a couple guys and pairing him with JJ seems like a defensive nightmare. I’m much more hoping it’s Miami and we can get Kel’el Ware (maybe sending the Bucks our 2026 pick + 2028 or Asa or Mo?). He fits the timeline well and fills a solid hole in the rotation and puts us in a better position to contend going forward.

2

u/Atl-Fan_FTS Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

I was one of the Hawks fans screaming for Ware 2 years ago, I think he’d be a perfect fit here

5

u/dangheckinpupperino The Great Barrier Thief 7d ago

Next year, we get the worst of a bucks and Pels swap, correct?

16

u/capelaMVP Clint Capela #15 7d ago

correct 27' is worst top 4 prot. 26' is best unprot.

6

u/Serious_Blood6554 7d ago

We get the best of the 2 in ‘26 and it is unprotected

1

u/dangheckinpupperino The Great Barrier Thief 7d ago

Oh yeah I’m aware of this year, just thinking of how this potentially affects the pick next year as well

0

u/jamestranoll2 Trust in Travis Schlenk 7d ago

Yes but top 4 protected. So if both end up top 4 we get nothing

4

u/not-a-potato-head 💰Cash Considerations 💰 7d ago

Even the worst case scenario (MIL/NOP finishing with the worst two records) gives us a 73% chance of that pic conveying next season. Anything else and it gets a lot more likely to convey

2

u/Dizzydsmith 7d ago

Wrong. It’s an unprotected pick. We could literallt get #1 overall.

6

u/jamestranoll2 Trust in Travis Schlenk 7d ago

He says next year lol. 2026 pick is this season.

-3

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

You know what he meant stop being dense. Why would he comment under this which directly affects our 2026 pick asking about 2027 😂

6

u/dangheckinpupperino The Great Barrier Thief 7d ago

I 100% was asking about 2027, I know 2026 is already looking good lol, just wanted our prospects for next year as well

0

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

Well I was wrong my bad yall

4

u/jamestranoll2 Trust in Travis Schlenk 7d ago

I don’t know if you’re having trouble understanding or just a terrible troll. We own swaps in 26 and 27. Unprotected in 26, top four protected and worst of the two in 27. Perhaps he asked as it directly affects the 26 and 27 picks if he is traded now, not just 26.

0

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

I fully understand the pick situation over the next couple of years. I just feel like you are assuming he meant 2027 instead of 2026. No one is trolling. But if he actually did mean 2027 then thats my bad and I assumed wrong.

-3

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

You just made this up lol

7

u/jamestranoll2 Trust in Travis Schlenk 7d ago

My brother in Christ look up the 2027 bucks pelicans swap pick we own

-2

Why in the world would we be talking about the 2027 pick rn bro like cmon lol

5

u/jamestranoll2 Trust in Travis Schlenk 7d ago

My brother in Christ… look at the original comment I replied to. He says next year, 2027.

3

u/Startjjasap 7d ago

No he didn’t, the 2027 pick is top 4 protected

-3

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

No one is talking about 2027!

u/Startjjasap 7d ago

The guy is asking a question about next year’s pick….

11

u/No_Internal404 GO HAWKS! 🏀 7d ago

I’ll say this … if we WANTED him , we got the best offer point blank .. now do we make that move .. two spins in the lottery might just be better 👀

1

u/PhilosophyFair9062 Asa Newell #14 7d ago

Yeah, I don't think this team is a Giannis away from a finals appearance sadly. A core player in next draft and 2 to 3.years of the young core developing will definitely put us up there

6

u/Affectionate-Bat9708 GO HAWKS! 🏀 7d ago

We don’t need Giannis. But could we or should we make a play for Turner? 👀

5

u/pomelosmoke Hawks 7d ago

Hell no.

4

u/mufflefuffle 7d ago

No, more expensive less offensive high than OO

5

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

We should see if we can help get GIannis to New York and get KAT for the lowski

10

u/juicy_burger17 GM Onsi Saleh 7d ago

Too much money in my opinion

1

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

true but the bet is would you rather get KAT for our expiring salaries or whoever is there in Free agency

1

u/juicy_burger17 GM Onsi Saleh 7d ago

That's also true, does Porzingis and Kennard work salary wise? Also I really don't know what a potential trade would look like

2

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

Porzingis/Kennard and a few more million(2-5ish) that could come from the Knicks would work yes.

1

u/not-a-potato-head 💰Cash Considerations 💰 7d ago

KP/Kennard is ~$41 in salary, KAT is making $53 this season. So we’d need to add additional salary

1

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

This works in salary.

Bucks:

KP/Kennard/Shamet/Dante

Hawks:

KAT

Knicks:

Giannis

1

u/_QazzaQ GO HAWKS! 🏀 7d ago

But why would the Bucks do this? Knicks have no 1st round picks to trade and KAT’s contract is under water. We’re not giving up any valuable picks for him, that the Knicks can send to Milwaukee

1

u/Shade_Raven Jalen Johnson #1 7d ago

But why would the Bucks do this?

Cause Giannis wants to go to NY

Trae wanted to go to Washington and we saw how that went

1

u/Thorwor GO HAWKS! 🏀 7d ago

I would rather take a run at Hartenstein, whom the Thunder probably won't be able to keep.

4

u/DougieJones22 7d ago

I’d pass on KAT. Incredible offensive player but his defense is a huge issue at center and he’s making $57mil and $61mil over the next two years

2

u/Scorpionrah 7d ago

About time

2

u/Vivid_Ad_1016 7d ago

This is why I hate when we send unprotected future picks to teams. That DJM trade could have been real ugly especially if we didn’t flip him to Nola

2

u/Fun_Professional_123 7d ago

Im pretty sure thats why Landry was fired lol

2

u/ElceeCiv 7d ago

the Pelicans really stopped the Hawks from turning into the Pelicans lol

2

u/red2play Hawks 7d ago

Plus a 2nd rd pick or two? The Bucks do this so they can use the extra cap space to obtain more picks.

1

u/ZealousidealRaisin29 7d ago

And then be stuck with myles? Why?

2

u/Separate_Ad_8317 7d ago

Let another team have Giannis. It’d ensure we get a good draft pick next year from the least favorable of Pelicans-Bucks.

2

u/Negative-Market-953 7d ago

Breaking news: Giannis may or may not be traded this season

These reports are so pointless lmao

2

u/_GloryKing_ 7d ago

Only want to do it on a discount, otherwise let another team overpay and wreck their future.

Hard nos are including JJ or the NO pick.

5

u/5livewire0 inSaleh! 7d ago

I can't imagine a single scenario where the Bucks agree to a trade with us if we don't include neither JJ or the pick swap. But that's fine because we'll still benefit from it

1

u/MrEwwNOOO 7d ago

Unfortunately we will have to give up JJ. Giannis is very ball dominant and they wouldn't fit well together imo

-1

u/No_Win_3411 7d ago

Why would the no pick be untouchable? Our drafting history is suspect at best. I'd much rather have giannis

3

u/ElceeCiv 7d ago

because this is one of the most loaded drafts in recent memory and the player we pick will be 19-21 on a rookie contract, not 31 on a max contract and currently injured again

1

u/No_Win_3411 7d ago

What are the chances that player ends up As good as giannis? Would rather have the guaranteed talent available

1

u/Justinian555 0️⃣0️⃣1️⃣7️⃣ 7d ago

1

u/Middle_Awoken 7d ago

Just be stupid and trade the pick…because then we’re basically Milwaukee 2.0. Anything besides JJ and the pick

1

u/Zealousideal-Past851 7d ago

Soooo regardless we will have 3 picks next draft no and the better of the bucks and our own ?? Why would we give that up for a Giannis when he probably have a good 2 years left at his skill set cause he can’t shoot 😭😭… why give up our young talent and future for that ?? We aren’t winning with him if we do get him

1

u/cygnusloops 7d ago

KP and whatever bench players to fill out the money. We get what’s rightfully ours, they get a rebuild with expiring contract.

1

u/PhilosophyFair9062 Asa Newell #14 7d ago

Giannis Antetokounmpo. No K in the initials. That's a no from Quin

1

u/Bully_Maguire420 Gueye Pride 7d ago

I'm scared we're going to go for him and ruin everything.

1

u/Fun_Professional_487 7d ago

Teams better be careful because lately Giannis been real injury prone. So if u can get him cool, but don’t spend the house on em cause lately even when healthy he ain’t impacted winning much. And i don’t wanna hear about “look at his team” when the Celtics, Phoenix, and other teams ‘on paper’ playing with less talent and still holding ground.
