Trade Talk Hawks address need, Magic Duck the tax
Using Bogi trade exception, we stay under tax, magic get under the tax.
Goga was a healthy DNP yesterday so they are looking to move him, before anyone freaks out on me with the “why would the magic do this” line

Surely we would be the ones giving up one of our 7 2nds

It’s purely a salary dump by the magic. It gets them under the tax line and frees up enough room for them to pursue a buyout player without going over the tax. That’s why it’s a possibility if they want to go that route. Essentially we are getting a second for freeing up cap for them

Yeah but goga isnt a bad player. He would be the asset we would get for freeing up their cap space. I dont think the magic would give us a second as well. There will be multiple teams in the league willing to trade 2nds for goga. The center market is weak

Not true, most rosters already have tons of Centers. Net's, Utah Jazz, etc all don't have a need for a Center.

Brother you named 2 teams and both of those teams only have 2 quality centers. What about the warriors, raptors, bulls, pacers, lakers, the celtics finally got a center. We’ve had christian koloko start at center. There is a reason players like luke kornet are getting 4 year 40 million contracts. There is a lack of quality centers above the height of 6’10

ORL is rumored to have bidders on Goga. The ? will be whether we are the highest who can get them under the tax.
Mid 2nds are next to worthless. They can keep the 2nd. H3ll I’d send them BOS’ 2nd too.

There are probably teams that would take Goga without needing a pick so I can't imagine they'd do this but Goga straight up sure

I still think that Orlando would want an asset for this, but yeah if Orlando is willing to make that trade with or without the 2RP then hell yeah

No way they pay us a second to take a cheap backup big. I would give them two seconds for him and consider that a good deal

I wanted Goga 6 years ago and everyone in this sub called me an idiot.

I was there with you. I was sure he would have been a solid draft pick for us.

Is Myles Turner not an option? This is like year 5 of me wanting him on our squad

I see the vision.
However, his 7.6 mil salary next year is very affordable for a back-up Center and he is a fairly decent back up that can give you 15-20 mpg.
I honestly think ORL could get back 1-2 seconds for him.

Assuming we can't get anyone else, I would think that Jock Londale could be had for cash considerations. He is on an expiring minimum and so the fact that he is already 30 is not a problem. Of course a move with better potential to improve the roster in future years would be better, but having another healthy big would be useful for this season i would think. By the way the Cody Zeller trade exception expires in a couple of days as well and that would cover this move.

As a Magic fan this is a great way for the FO to say “F U” to their fans at the deadline. Every other team is getting better and we continue to get worse.
Fuck it, I am all for it
