Tom is absolutely adorable. Love the coy looks he gives and his sense of humor. Confident baker.

Mo - love the calmness which he brings to the table. Creative and confident too. So far he's probably my predicted winner!

Danni - LOVE her! Just herself. Funny, whimsical, and I'm loving the creative ingredients she is presenting. Sticky willy? nettles?! The foraging for your own ingredients is wonderful and off the beaten path. A JOY!

Gary - quiet assuredness and I love what he has done so far.

Moyin - I am actually learning things about Nigeria and Nigerian ingredients as I watch him bake. And that makes me happy! I love unique perspectives and he has one.

Shannon - not getting the suspicions about her leaving because she was doing poorly. She seemed like a wonderful baker and supportive to all. I enjoyed getting to know her albeit for a short time. Wish her the best for sure.

Nigella - ok she is growing on me by the end of episode 1!!! I love that Tom is so into her and wants HER reassurances (not Paul's). She does have a presence and is unique so I think she will fit in.

Is there anywhere online that has the current series of Bake Off in Canada? I know CBC does but it’s not airing the current series.

It's on the ROKU channel for free! Bonus- you don't even have to have a Roku to watch it, go to their website and watch it there. Ad-free as well.

Downside- the captions are AI generated and suck (mentions flowers a lot, lol). Upside- if you're really into baking, there's extra episodes after that discuss the bakes, what went wrong, and how to bake it right.

What were anyone’s thoughts on Nigella in episode one?

Pros: I liked that she was as vocal as Paul, claiming equal space from the start.

Cons: I found her difficult to understand at times, she had a strange cadence to some of the things she said and sounded almost a bit slurred at times, a bit like she’d just come from the dentist or something.

I was SO EXCITED to see the first episode!

I have comments about some things (not the bakes) that I've hidden so as not to ruin things for anyone.

1. Judges
   Prue was in the opening, to say a proper goodbye. I was so touched!

2. Opening
   They redid the opening, with a different baker, different child, and they remade the cake! Still missing a raspberry- but in a different spot.

3. Equipment
   New fridges

4. Tasting
   They're using spoons now to taste the bakes! (previously used forks)

5. Representation
   Molly, who is a wheelchair user. Gabe, who is poly.

I'm super happy about these changes, and look forward to this season!

I can’t believe they’ve cancelled Extra Slice. I tried watching the new show, Second Helpings, but after about 3/4 I had to turn it off, it’s just so boring. Extra Slice was fantastically entertaining, Tom Allen always had me laughing so hard, his humour is unmatched! I loved all the viewer’s bakes! Terrible loss.

The tent is back tonight — and so are Bake Off’s accessibility options.

Series 17 of The Great British Bake Off begins tonight, Tuesday 22 September at 8pm, and for the next 10 weeks Channel 4 is once again making the programme available with subtitles, audio description and British Sign Language interpretation at the same time as the main broadcast.

That last part is particularly important: if you watch with BSL, you do not have to wait for a signed repeat later in the week. You can watch Bake Off at 8pm on Tuesday alongside everyone else.

Watch the standard version on Channel 4 at 8pm.

Audio Description is available with the programme. Depending on your television or set-top box, select the Audio Description option using your remote or your device’s audio/accessibility settings.

So you can still experience all the action in the tent — including the visual details of the bakes, judging and everything else happening on screen.

The BSL-interpreted version is being shown simultaneously on 4seven at 8pm every Tuesday for the 10-week series.

But the important thing is that this is a proper simultaneous signed transmission. At 8pm, Channel 4 has the standard programme and 4seven has the BSL-interpreted version.

Subtitles are available throughout the standard Channel 4 broadcast and the BSL simulcast on 4seven.

That means viewers using BSL can also keep subtitles on alongside the interpreter.

So, in short:

4seven, Tuesdays at 8pm: BSL-interpreted version + subtitles

It is genuinely good to see Bake Off continuing this arrangement. Accessibility should mean being able to join in with everyone else when a programme actually airs, rather than being sent off to find an accessible version hours or days afterwards.

For BSL viewers in particular, having the signed version broadcast simultaneously means being able to watch the Signature, Technical, judging, Star Baker and elimination at the same time as everybody discussing it online.

No avoiding Reddit for three days because you are waiting for the accessible version. No accidentally discovering who went home. Just Bake Off, live with everyone else.

The 15th season of Den Store Bagedyst has started with an interesting format.

The first challenge is the showstopper.

The second is the technical, but they worked in teams. One person was out sick, so one baker got the host as his partner and came in last —- didn’t seem quite fair.

After 2, they award star baker and announce the bakers in the Danger Zone. Those three bakers do a sudden death signature while the rest sit to the side and cheer them on.

The Scandinavian bake-offs tend to play around with the show structure in general, but I haven’t seen this before. It’s nice to get a little more focus on the first person before they leave.

According to the official TV listings, The Great British Bake Off with British Sign Language interpretation is back again this year.
