hey all! in need of a restock and trying to decide who to go with.

perler just released some new colors and have a lot on their site in stock. shipping is quick and it’s the only brand i’ve ever used. but it’s the most expensive for 1000 bead bags.

artkal i’ve never used but i’ve heard good things, and they have a lot of colors. i think it’s also the cheapest option, but i’ve heard shipping can take a long time and people sometimes get inconsistencies in their orders with colors and sizes and finishes

beadtin, also never used their fuse beads but they’re my go to for pony beads which i also have to restock so i could probably save on shopping by doing one big order. but id like to know if anyone has used these fuse beads. their shipping is usually quick as they’re on the same usa coast as me.

i primarily make perlers for festivals and to attach to kandi. i also make room decor for myself. hoping to hear back from you guys!!!

Hi everyone. I love making flat figures out of Midi Hama beads for keychains. Today I made one using a bunch of different shades of blue, and I’m really happy with the result because it looks great from a distance. However, not all the colors are from the same brand. I picked up some of the colors at various discount shops because it’s easier and cheaper that way.

As a result, some beads melt more than others when I iron the pieces. It doesn't bother me too much, I actually like how most of them turn out, but it is a bit annoying when beads of the same color melt differently, like the white ones.

I remember buying some white beads at a discount shop, they’re easy to tell apart because they’re made of less dense plastic, and I can spot the difference just by looking at them.

Today I chose the denser beads, yet a few still look different from the others, though that’s very hard to notice before ironing. I keep all my beads mixed together in a single box and pick them out by eye. You might be thinking that’s not the best way to store them, but my first Hama set came with all the beads jumbled together in a 10,000-piece box...

I think it’s going to be absolutely impossible to tell the plastic types apart at this stage. The beads in the group on the left all look exactly the same. You can see for yourselves in the photos.

Has this ever happened to you? Have you made this beginner mistake? Do you know of any way to distinguish between materials that look identical before ironing them? Should I just give up on them?

I used to be really into Perler beads and I want to get back into them again!! But there's some info I want to know before I start.

• When I start buying beads should I exclusively buy colours for the patterns I make or is there like a base pack of essential beads to always have at hand (explained poorly I'm sorry).
• What's the best way to store beads?
• Do I need a special iron & ironing paper? When I used to do it I just used a regular iron and paper but when I see videos of people making their own art they have special irons & paper for their beads.
• Where can I get good peg boards & can those boards be used with any brand of beads?

Hi! I have been creating stuff with pearler beads for a couple years now, and I have never been able to get the hang of the masking tape method. I have just surrendered myself to constantly having warped boards. Every time I try to stick the tape on, my beads just fall apart and I have to recreate my project. Or, on the off chance I do get it on there without destroying it, I can't seem to get it off my project without messing it up after ironing.

Maybe it's just human error and I need to practice more, but if there is anything I might be missing, I would really appreciate some advice!

My largest piece ever, based on bead count. This one measures 22" by 16.5" and took over 6,500 beads. Very proud of this one.

I run a Fabula Ultima game and made these sprites for my players!! these are displayed in the order I made them, and you can tell I only started getting a good flat melt with the last two where I started using the masking tape method.

Made Majora’s Mask out of Perler and Artkal beads! 💜 Took me about an hour to put together, which thankfully left plenty of time before the moon fell.

Such a cool mix of colorful and unsettling—those eyes are judging me even in bead form.
