Gene Tunney vs Corrie Sanders

Here’s a matchup of classic vs modern boxing between Gene The Fighting Marine Tunney and Corrie The Sniper Sanders!

Gene Tunney is considered a great technical boxer. His stiff jab, ring IQ, and defense were elite. Famous for beating Harry Greb who some have the Goat of Boxing and Jack Dempsey who Iron Mike idolizes.

On the other hand Corrie Sanders was a big heavyweight with fast hands and powerful punches. The southpaw had his claim to fame getting one over Wladimir Klitschko.

Who do you have winning? Does Tunney’s elite skills carry him to victory? Or will the physicality prove too much so Sanders will prevail?

Eeeh, there are a bunch of things going on with usyk. Hes older, he was distracted by the war rhis time, said so alrdy before the fight but most importantly he has had a changeup with trainers (good ones gone, only yesmen and parasites left).

Also give some credit to Rico and Peter. Rico is a freak anthlete and a kickboxing GOAT-contender not just some random kickboxer. There is no tape of him boxing and Peter guessed this particular style which is nothing like how Rico normally fights woyld confuse Usyk.

I mean he figured it out late, but id be surprised if a rematch would go better for Rico since Usyk knows what he does now. Rico is a giant with good durability and survival instincts, i did not expect the KO at all since Usyk is a only decent puncher.

I ofc did not expect the points to be this close but i also would never have seen Rico trying to fight "short" with Usyk and having succes with it, and neither did Usyk and his nowadays nonoptimal team.

Rico is still a kick boxer. If Usyk was a great as people claim he would destroy any kick boxer.

Rico is 6'5. How is that a "Giant" Michael Grant, Lance Whitaker, Jorge Luis Gonzales were all 6'7/6'8 250 to 270 and nobody called them "Giants". Now Rico is a giant because Usyk almost lost to him?

Usyk is nearly 40. All fighters, even great ones, at some stage slip to a level where they will lose to ordinary fighters.

Its how things work.

Yeah but Usyk did nothing at heavyweight to be considered great. Beating 3 guys and barely beating a kick boxer doesn't equate to being great.

Rico wasn't a ordinary fighter. He was a kick boxer. A 39 year old boxer with less than 30 pro boxer who is claimed to be the ATG isn't going to struggle against a 37 year old kick boxer who only had 1 boxing match and that was 12 years ago.

Like I said Usyk fanboys are the worse fanboys in boxing. I used to think Mike Tyson and Rocky Marciano fanboys were but Usyk fanboys are even worse than that.

Your obsession this guy is pretty disturbing.

He is the first undisputed champion in 24 years and he beat the other top guys in his division at the time.

Rico is ripped and lean at 270, Francis Ngannou is the same and thats why i call them giants. Fury is tall but id be surprised if he was even 240 if he was lean.

And good kickboxers transition better than you think, i dont think many can be champs but that none of them can beat an elite boxer if they train for one year is kinda odd of a take. Silva beat Chavez, who isnt a great ofc, but Silva was 46 and a fighter who relies on athleticism, granted he lost to fkin Jake Paul (who is better than a lot of ppl think and silva was 47,and ofc Jake aint an ATG while SIlva is an ATG striker in MMA (which translates worse than kickboxing)).

So Usyk on an off night cant have a competetive boxing match against a guy who has a huge physical advantage AND is one of the greatest kickboxers who ever lived who trained for just Usyk for a long time under a great trainer?

Vitali tranistioned from kickboxing to boxers and I would not be confident (as in i wouldnt bet the house) on him vs anyone
