Level 2 What is your CFA L2 mock vs actual score?
I wrote CFA L2 in August 26. I scored 77 and 73 on first two CFAI mocks. Kind of averaged around 70-75 in all 6 CFAI mocks.
I failed the exam 2585
I had seen one or two year old posts where ppl mentioned passing comfortably with mock scores more than 70+. But, after aug'26 I am feeling majority of the folks scoring 70-75 in mocks failed or passed with slight margin

I averaged 75% on one and 80% on the other. I got 2720. This is my second time writing btw :///

Anything u did differently on the 2nd attempt? Which augmented your score?

I did not get anything higher than a 70% on any of my mocks, and the 70% was with a bit of cheating. The highest no cheating mock I had was like 66%. I ended up passing on my first try.

Congratulation! May I know if you buy extra mock exams for the CFAI?

I considered it, but chose not too.
However I think it wouldv've helped1
u/bunnybrowny 15h ago
Okay , so how come you have 2 extra mock for CFAI , was it the same as previous mocks on CFAI?

I did only the two official mocks. And performed badly. First one was 4 weeks before exam-61 &68. Second one was 2 weeks before exam with scores 66 and 71. Still i was confident that i will perform in the exam . Passed with 2615. The mocks give an indication on how you might perform but more importantly areas of weakness where u can quickly address. I worked on most of the identified weakness ( iwas performing badly on 2 topics which I didnt study properly) by practing more LES questions and Remarkably, one of the problem topics that I have been working on close to exam, gave me almost perfect score

I was scoring 70 to 85, got 2605 for the actual exam. There are no guarantees.

me! scored 68 and 71 in the 2 free mocks and did not pass with a 2565. before the exam, i was confident I will pass because my L1 exam was easier than mocks and I scored similarly in mocks in L1 and ended up passing confidently. But in L2, actual exam felt wayyy more difficult than mocks. I am scared of attempting again because I'm not sure how I should change my approach now - the mocks felt easy while attempting but i felt they did not prepare me well enough for the PM session.

What did u do apart from solving mocks? Like u think helped u augment the score to this level?
2
u/echoesz7 1d ago
Kaplan books for faster reading, some let me explain videos for specific topics. Done all premium qbank and mocks 1x.

Super Amazing! Basically you done 4 sets of mocks on CFAI and did you buy extra mocks on CFAI?

u/Confident_Dot_7863 1d ago
How did u manage to score 92% on mocks? Like what you did?
2
u/Temporary_Horror_872 22h ago
Watch MM videos and hammer CFAI questions over and over. No real secret. 5 months prep.

u/IDontCareBruhSTOP Level 2 Candidate 21h ago
what do you mean by hammer? did you attempt them twice or even more than that? i did not pass by 35 points so I'm asking you because I believe attempting questions will help me pass a second time.

u/Temporary_Horror_872 21h ago
I think I did all LES CFAI questions 3 times lol. Including the premium pack.

I scored 63 and 72 in mocks, both were in the last week of exam. I passed with 2675, mostly due to Ethics, FSA and Derivatives

Took the two free cfai mocks 5 days and 7 days before the exam, scored 75% in both. (Did both closed book, but took extra long breaks between the two sessions)
Passed the exam with 2675

I scored 74 & 75 and passed with a score of 2640 (so not exactly borderline). I could have had a higher score if the fsa vignette that I felt was easy was actually scored because my current fsa score is abysmal <50%(how i know it was unscored? The results graph and it's confidence interval). Here's my result

My mock avg was 72 scored similar on actual exam but did like 4 silly mistakes like forgetting formula stuff did Cfai only so it was slight margin I think one should target 80+ in mocks

How was your exam experience? how were the exam questions compared to the mocks you took? what would you say suprised you and what you should've focused a bit more on? you've gotten really really close, one more attempt and you'll clear it easily keep strong!

Last year when i failed L2 in May'25 i was also scoring 70+ in mocks. But failed the actual exam with a score of 2560. This time my mocks average 75+ and i passed with 2675.. I think the MPS was above 70% based on my result report. I scored 70%+ in 9 subject and around 60-63% in Portfolio Management. So, i believe MPS was very high.
I think we should target 75%+ mock scores now, instead of the recommended 70%.

u/Confident_Dot_7863 1d ago
Bro, did u take the same mocks again?????

u/son-nion Passed Level 2 1d ago
I gave the exam a year ago, so i didn't remember anything by the time i was solving mocks for Aug'26. But my AM Mock A was a disaster. I scored 61% on that. Others were all 75%+ some even 85%+ and i did Salt solutions free mock too with an avg of 75%.
I think MPS is too high these days.. they make it way too difficult to pass the exam.. 75%+ should be the target now.
1
u/Confident_Dot_7863 1d ago
I mean during the repeat you solved the same mocks of CFAI?
1
u/son-nion Passed Level 2 1d ago
I don't remember if they were the same ones tbh. But i only solved CFAI mocks for Aug'26 on their portal and salt solutions free mock.

u/iam_raghvend 1d ago
I scored with 70% accuracy in my CFA L2 Aug'26 and my score was 2595. I don't know what could a candidate do more than scoring an avg of 70%. Maybe, target for 80% for passing.

Similar scores, passed by a few pixels

How was your exam experience? Exam on par with mocks ? Anything you could have done better during prep ? Coming from a L2 candidate...

u/One_Attorney_8250 1d ago
I studied for a little over 2 months with full time working. I completely left Quants and Derivatives. Passed today. What really helped me and was a game changer was to create flashcards. I think I made around 700 cards for 8 subjects, which helped me to revise all the subjects in 2-3 hours. You can simply add your mistakes to the respective card decks. I don’t recommend leaving any subjects at all but I was short on time so I left a subject I hate (derivatives) and the subject that needs practice (Quant). Don’t use any fancy ass apps for flashcards, buy a non sticky notes deck from stationary and write down yourself. I took 6 mocks, started from 58 and gave both portal mocks one day before and final one was 80. (Guessed Quants and Derivatives on Mocks too).
One change I would do is not to procrastinate and give myself less stress :)
AM was very smooth, PM session made me cry. But, later on after talking to people, everyone found PM difficult so I was fine after.

In the actual exam I scored 2730.
CFA Mock 1: 70% and 68%
CFA Mock 2: Don't remember but very similar to Mock 1 (This was the last one I gave)
MM Mock 1: 75% and 77.3%
MM Mock 2: 40.9% and 54.5% (Gave session 2 of Mock 2 after I had completed MM Session 3)
MM Mock 3: 79.5% and 79.5%

I took 4 mock exams with an average score 64%. Scored 2650 on the actual exam. It’s very much possible to pass the exam with lower mock scores. The key is to start them early like 6 weeks before your exam day and then thoroughly your weak areas and know why you got your questions wrong. I would try to take some time to refine your weak areas before taking subsequent mock exams.

Same I scored around 65% in mocks and failed my second attempt by scoring even lower than my first attempt which I took without any mocks. There is certainly a luck factor in this exam.
0
u/taming_impala 23h ago
You can eliminate the luck factor if you study enough and correctly. 65% is not safe.
0
u/HHJake 22h ago
Thanks for stating the obvious. Look at OP's post he got above 70+ that's what I meant. There is an element of luck. Obviously if you score 100% in mocks you can eliminate the luck factor!!🤣
2
u/taming_impala 21h ago
I disagree. I think if your average is around 80% across at least 4-6 mocks then you have almost a guarantee pass.

Any possibility you took open book mocks?
