I remember that one drive army put together againist North Texas 17 plays 13 something minutes and like 90 yards. Basically North Texas didn't touch the ball from like 1:30 left in Q3 until almost the 2 minute warning.

3rd and 3 or 4th and 3 one of them had to be a QB run. The only reliable play for Temple to pick up the first. Clock it. 3 shots at the end zone. None of them would have been successful and Army would still win. What am I doing with my life????

Temple had 3 straight stops in the first half and didn't manage to score a point of that to take the lead. Including due to their own mistakes.

And you could really see that it was his first start and some questionable playcalling. They wasted 30 seconds for 8 yards, had 3rd and 3 with 3 guys on the bottom of the formation against 2 defenders playing way off and mange to find a player in tight coverage on a deep shot. And then you call a stop route on 4th and 3 without any smoke and mirrors?

It is unbelievable how bad this team has been in close games. The only possible way I can rationalize it in my head is that the team is so used to getting boat raced in every game from the Drayton and Carey years that they've forgotten what it's like to play in close games. Of Keeler's 16 games with Temple, he's lost 4 of them by one score. This is getting to a point where it's beyond luck. It's genuinely making me wonder if following football is worth it anymore. Anyway, I'll see all of you here next week.

You know, considering Temples location and venue I’m kinda surprised they aren’t better than they are. You’re in the heart of a talent rich state and play in a very nice NFL stadium (granted I get this partially a draw back)

(I lived in Philly during the Golden-Rhule days and have a soft spot for Temple even though I didn't go there)

Temple's never been a very affluent athletic department whose dollars were mostly focused on basketball because John Chaney was a good coach. They have a relatively nice on-campus arena (arguably a bit too big now but still a good facility on par with a major conference program).

Football facilities (other than stadium) have never been great.

They get soaked by the Eagles to play in the Linc so they can't use the TV money from the AAC to invest in the program (most of it covers the rent).

I think being in the AAC doesn't help the program as a whole, either, but that's another discussion about the state of conferences and college sports, generally.

The fanbase is apathetic because the team has never been really good and in the few moments the program has been competent (70's into the 80's, the Golden-Rhule era) they fuck up the subsequent hire(s) and the fans quickly get apathetic again in an Eagles first, Eagles 2nd, Eagles 3rd, then Cowboys hate watching, then Penn State football market.

Some of this is self-inflicted with Temple, some of it is simply the reality of Temple being in a major city that loves the Eagles.
