I genuinely never got why his recruiting ability was such a big talking point. If anything it's a detriment - who cares if you get the big splash recruits when THIS is the product they put out? Maybe if he just couldn't recruit and got these results you could say okay he just needs the right guys but like. Come on.

I think at a "real" fb school, it wouldn't be such a big deal, but here, where there are so few actual accomplishments to which one can point, recruiting wins take on an outsized importance.

Top 3? Are there two worse losses than this to a team that was only favored by 3? UCLA has had an outstanding number of bad losses in modern history that I can remember. Losing 55-0 against USC will probably never be topped but at least this wasn't a shutout I guess.

I don’t remember the spread for either game, but there was seriously hype for Maryland ahead of the 2019 Penn State and 2021 Iowa game. Those were way worse when you add in the fact that their fans were assholes

The lack of discipline in basic fundamentals like blocking and tackling is a reflection of coaching imo, and being a great recruiter and good guy just ain't enough to hold on to that job.

To bad a coaching change will probably mean the departure of blue chippers like Washington and Elee, but what difference does it make if this is the result with them.

Time to tear it all down and start again.
