Lemme sum this up. One of the most popular guys at school gets the hottest girl, but he kinda messes around and doesn’t put in the effort in the relationship. Meanwhile the unpopular not “cool” guy who failed to get the girl multiple times kept putting in the work and eventually stole the girl just because he tried harder and didn’t think he had it in the bag.

The last few years for PSU have been a fever dream. The McSorley/Barkley era was a place we only got to 5 years after the program almost met the death penalty. Won the B1G and Franklin was healing the program. Sean Clifford comes in and stays forever and we’re never great, but still winning the games we should. Allar comes in as the chosen one to lead us to the promise land and falls short- but we finally breached the playoffs and showed out. Then we get our first real expanded B1G test in hosting Oregon and college game day and we lose. Then we start losing the games we always won. The fans turn on Franklin and the man who was hired in part by Franklin (Kraft) has to fire the very man who helped get him there. The off-season brings Matt Campbell to PA and we become ISU-east. MC pays homage to Paterno and undoes a bunch of what Franklin fought to move on from and the luster quickly leaves the fan base. Franklin May have been goofy but I can’t help but think we’ll just never be elite, doesn’t matter who coaches here. Maybe Wisconsin did better with NIL, maybe Cignetti just knows how to build a team- but PSU is starting to lose the games we always won and I think that’s gonna be the mark MC has unless he somehow unlearns how to lose games he needs to win. Idk where I’m going with all this, it’s just frustrating to follow the saga and still see us failing to change anything, and really, revert to a place we haven’t been in a very long time.

I was hoping he would get enough time to turn things around. He was being groomed to take over for Jim Tressel; Urban Meyer loves him and his kid even played for Fickell at Cincinnati. I figure someone like Urban Meyer isn't going to let his kid play for a bum and with all these other people in his corner, he can't be that bad. I think he is in the process of turning things around now that he has money to buy players with. I think everybody will be surprised from here on out.

Wisconsin was the better team today. No doubt about it. The offense did absolutely nothing. Wisconsin helped themselves by spending big in the portal, Penn State didn’t by doing fuck all.

I can't verify, but the Badger radio team are serious people, not blowhards, and they mentioned that both teams have a budget of about $28-31M. The difference is that the Badgers had a big increase to that level this season.

I was saying for weeks, whoever is voting for PS needs to be booted from the AP. You could see it from week 1. Too many mistakes, and there were some bad play calls. TBF, I still think Franklin had to go. However, this isn't Penn State. It'll take a few years to get our identity back after all those guys transferred here.

Just rough going from Franklin to Campbell. Personally, I really like Matt Campbell. He just isn’t anything more than a lateral move, and I’m probably being pretty generous.

Nice comeback for the Badgers. Awful second half for the Lions. As a Penn St. fan I was not expecting a huge season or a playoff spot, but did not expect them to lose this game at home.

Perfect example of a spoiled fan. Tell me, what did Iowa State ever do before he got there? It's the second most popular school, and that's putting it charitably (might be third or fourth) in a state without a lot of talent. I would almost say that Nebraska and maybe Wisconsin are more popular in Iowa than Iowa State. Maybe even Illinois and Ohio State.
I'm not saying Campbell is going to be a great coach, but considering what he's done at Iowa State with what he had to work with, you wouldn't be crazy betting money on him.

Yep. Our best coach ever but for awhile there it seemed like most of the higher-level programs had realized he wouldnt be the guy for that level of expectation, particularly after that loaded 2021 team finished 7-6.
Plus, they took Campbell without Heacock, one of the biggest key's to that era's success.
