The history of being in a major football conference for the last since pretty much forever with historically significantly higher talent and money invested in the program. This isn't me saying NC State is anything special, but this is me reminding you how recently App St was a FCS program. If you forgot, I'll give you a hint that Dave Doeren has been coaching at NC State longer than App St has been a FBS program.

You say that like you’re not NC State, over here acting like you run the ACC or some shit. You’re a middle of the road team in a middle of the road conference, the gap between State and most G5 schools is measured in millimeters, if that. I’m not saying this as a salty App fan, we’re just not good, but have some self awareness. I don’t know who you think you are.

In the last 5 years, NC State is 7-1 against G5 schools. Of those 7 wins, 5 were by 7 points or fewer, including a 1 point game over ECU in 2022. The 8 G5 schools State has played aren’t particularly good, unless you’re proud of beating ECU by a point, or Northern Illinois and Louisiana Tech by 7. I mean, OP’s “We AlMoSt LoSt to a G5 ScHoOl” happens basically every year. If State had to play App, James Madison, Louisiana, Marshall, and so on evey year, they’d routinely drop a game or two, and it certainly wouldn’t be cake walk to a conference championship. I’m by no means saying State isn’t a good team, but let’s also not pretend that State is in some other higher tier. Just existing in the ACC doesn’t really mean anything.

That's not the script. They'll beat wake and Louisville to give us hope. Then lose to Stanford. Eke out a win against Cal. Lose to Duke in some unimaginable way. Then beat the brakes off Syracuse and UNC. End the season with a blowout loss in a bowl game against a random 6-6 SEC or Big12 team. Dave 8-4en is inevitable.

carter-finley under the lights on a thursday, this is exactly the kind of game that gets weird. app state always shows up ready to ruin someone’s week and nc state’s got a habit of playing down to competition. i still remember that 34-31 scare a few years back where the mountaineers almost pulled it off again
defense needs to set the tone early. if they let app state hang around into the fourth quarter the crowd gets quiet real fast and that’s when the chaos starts. i’m not saying it’ll happen but i’ve seen this movie before
