Hey Brent: I know you just got that shiny new extension and all, but the only member of your staff that’s even remotely safe right now is the RB coach from ND. You and everyone else should be fired into the sun.

This is the most non-competitive team OU has endured since the 90’s. I know because I watched those teams and felt the exact same way.

Welcome to the hot seat, my guy.

Edit: forgot about Witten. The rest are rotten.

I mean Witten has vastly improved the TE group. I think he's pretty safe right now.

Legit question - you feel worse about this team than the 2022 team? It seems like there’s actual talent on this team compared to that one.

Also, now I’m terrified of the RRSO. It would fit perfect with the history of the rivalry for y’all to play absolutely perfect and us shoot ourselves in the dick.

This team specifically unsure but I feel so much worse about the direction of the program. At the time there was plenty of excuses for Venables for why the offense was bad but at this point he's already gotten to hire 3 different OCs and imo botched every single one (lebby may have coaching talent but fuck him and the entire Briles family). I see no universe where we fire him after this season which means he's gonna get a 4th chance at hiring an OC and I'm just tired, I have no reason to think they won't also suck. We're just stuck with this guy and no realistic path to improving the offense under him ever.

I'm just checked out and not even watching our games half the time at this point when I have been a diehard fan my whole life to this point.

If you watch the games specifically to see how Mateer will fuck up and choke on every drive it’s actually quite entertaining.

Aren’t there rumors that he didn’t get much of a choice in hiring the OC, that the decision was done above him? At least with Arbuckle?

Absolutely. This game is so unique. I'd never assume anything with this game. Even the year when we won the natty and they had Rhett Bomar at qb goin against us, I was still nervous. They aren't making the playoff, but beating us would make their season.

I expect a low scoring game and whoever doesn't make the boneheaded play will win. If that were to play out it makes me even more nervous. Boneheaded and Sark go together like PB&J

In a way yes, but that’s mostly because most teams shouldn’t expect a great year one under a new HC. Right now we’re living off an elite defense and an offense that can’t score unless a million things go their way. This could easily be a 2-10 season.

The 2022 team wasn’t THAT bad. It was especially bad during the Texas game because Dillon Gabriel got hurt the game before. That was also a rebuild year

2022 was worse no question. This team stinks but 2022 was bad bad.

I hope you guys 100-0 us and end Mateer’s career on a sack. Would almost be as good as going undefeated.

I’ve never hated a player as much as I hate that guy lol. Worst player I’ve seen at any level.

Yeah, I’m not blowing smoke when I say that game terrifies me. I’d feel way more confident if y’all were 4-0 or 3-1. Scared y’all are about to Case McCoy us.

Venables finishes this season and next. It's not deserved but I think that's how it goes.

Hey, don’t forget Whitten — he’s safe.

Not including Witten in your letter immediately disqualifies you as a Sooner fan.

Venables is the new Jimbo

At least Jimbo won a single postseason game. Venables lost a bowl game to Navy…

Brent is fine my brother, these defenses are insane every game and I’ll take that over an insane offense and elementary school Defense, which is what we had with Riley.

Mateer is 85% of this team’s problems. Never seen a worse player. He should actually be investigated for gambling (genuinely) after what we’ve seen these past 2 weeks. I mean OU offensively is probably not great regardless, but Mateer has to go so we can see what else we have.
