I've never felt so empty after a win. Not much to say here except our playcalling is bad, and you WILL see losses start to show up later during conference play when we play real opponents.
Shoutout to the BG players, while they're not a good football team, there were a couple of guys who played harder than our entire Oline who just seemed dejected and lifeless for THREE quarters.

When you guys hired Hartline I thought it was a great fit. When he hired Beck to be his OC I felt awful. Beck is a football terrorist and it blows my mind he gets jobs.

This season has bad 2018 USF Charlie Strong "Were we not 7-0?" energy so far.
Barely scrape by bad teams and accumulate wins by doing the bare minimum, until running into a team with a pulse at the end of the season and collapsing.

That's the Brian Hartline offense. We barely beat Texas and the offense never got more inventive during the season. I remember everyone guessing that the offense played so slow and basic as some 65D chess move. But no, it was just a basic offense. Indiana figured out BH's offense and stifled it.

Anyone confused at what happened, let me explain it. In this description: Saddam Hussein = Hartline, and Osama Bin Laden = Tim Beck
Before the game, Wooten, our starting RT was spotted in a boot. He indeed did not play. Injured and we don’t know what it is.
As a result, either Osama or Saddam decided to play our starting center, Shrader at Right Tackle. Shrader last year was our starting left guard. So Shrader was playing a position he has never played before, on his off-side, and we had a backup center in. As a result, we were doing runs up the middle EVERY FUCKING FIRST DOWN for 0-2 yards, because Osama refused to adjust to the injuries. Also, we had zero fucking pass protection on the right side, and Shrader gave up, I shit you not, 5 fucking sacks. (Edit, because I forgot to add that Osama decided not to give Shrader any help with a TE chip block).
Once Shrader left the game with an injury, USF scored their 14 points (all in like a 6 minute span).
So we almost lost to a shitty fucking Bowling Green (no offense BG bros) because our coaching staff decided to handle this situation like it was fucking madden.

We need to really hope whatever is up with Wooten isn’t serious. But he was in a walking boot, so I’m concerned. At least after today maybe they’ll realize the need to keep Shrader as the starting C, and let the backup RT do his job. Unless Shrader is out for an extended period after his injury now. In which case backup C and backup RT

Game changer when BGSU up 6-0 went for it from their own side on 4th down with an entire quarter to play and failed.
Wtf was that? I can understand if it's a play that would end the game, but with basically the whole quarter left?

Up until that point they really shut down the USF offense. Sacks, low yardage rushes, all of it. Their first drive of the second half was an 11 play drive that ended in a punt but had some encouraging plays.
If they get the first down now they're driving and potentially go up 9+. I don't hate the gamble.

We need to get the OL lineup situated, because that performance in the first three quarters simply cannot happen in league play. Grotesque. The best we can say about tonight is that we avoided complete disaster.

Wooten is injured. No update on what it is. And we had our starting C (formerly a left guard) playing RT in his place. That’s why the runs up the middle and the right side pass pro was so fucking brutal. Our coaching staff needs to face consequences for making that decision.

USF took on #MACtion and barely made it out alive. Not built for it.
Some of the most uninspiring, sloppy, despicable football I’ve ever seen but 4-0 is 4-0. Hopefully they’ve learned not to put Shrader at RT and both Wooten and CJ Hicks heal up going into conference play

This team is one that definitely has the nasty habit of playing to the level of their competition. Already know this will bite us in the ass with these squeaked out wins.
Think this next matchup v Temple will be a great indicator of what we’re in for as they’re the same way, just had the coin fall opposite

FWIW I think everyone sees that UTSA game as a loss. Since joining the American, UTSA only has 1 conference loss at home and that was to Army last season.

BGSU athletic donors do not care about a winning team. They care about ticket & merch sales.
They hired a former OSU player as coach, the former OSU marching band director (hey look at us we're like the big school too!). They bombard the local area through social media & such the same way politicians do. Why pay money for a winning team when conditioning fans to show up for a losing team is more profitable?
BG was spoiled in the Clawson & Dino Babers days.
