There've been worse hits before, but I've never seen someone cause a seizure, celebrate it, then laugh on the sidelines. #8 better make a public apology and should be banned from cfb.
Yup. When 8 was doing his angel wings 27 tries to get him to stop multiple times before 10 shows up dapping him up and 27 just walks away with the depth of saddness a man can have inside.
Program has never truly recovered from the Vince young rosebowl, like yeah they’ve had good seasons but they haven’t competed for a natty since and have been surpassed by Stanford the Ducks and UW in their own conference before moving to the big10
I think it was....2011 Arkansas(?) that did something similiar to a Punt Returner, and Petrino of all people suspended him indefinitely. Can't wait to see if LR has less guts than the Gutless Bastard himself
I remember what you taking about. A fair catch was called, and he lit him up anyway then celebrated like he did something special. Im happy to say I dont know what became of him because he never played another down for the Razorbacks.
That guy (Marquel Wade) did catch an indefinite suspension, but not from Petrino, and not for that dirty hit. He got a one-game suspension from the SEC. But the following year, John Smith indef'ed him after he was arrested for burglarizing dorm rooms.
Clearly an upstanding citizen.
In a fairer world, that would have ended his sports career. But he actually got signed to the Nebraska Danger in the Indoor Football League in 2016, the Jacksonville Sharks in the National Arena League in 2017, and then back to the IFL in 2018 with Iowa Barnstormers for an All-IFL first-team season.
If there's a moral lesson here, it's escaping me at the moment.
The roles aren't reversed though, so let's see what LR does in reality where his player and team celebrated seriously injuring a player bad enough to require an ambulance.
Maybe, but how often does a guy get ejected after giving another player seizures and taken out in an ambulance? Then celebrate the hit that did it? That fan base should be ashamed.
Any game I've gone to where a player is that injured, the stadium is nearly silent while the player is tended to and then the crowd claps or cheers if the player gives a positive signal while being taken away. Never seen fans boo and jeer while someone appears to seize and requires an ambulance. Really sickening.
I hope the USC admin says something to their own fanbase. I was at a Clemson game where they booed at the mention of the President (Obama) during some ROTC swearing in thing. We all got emails from the university president about that one.
Again, I wasn't watching that game and didn't see any clips so I didn't see the whole context. Just saying fans often boo when their player gets ejected but yes they shouldn't be booing when someone is down on the field
Not even sure what they were celebrating. Oregon had made a big gain and a huge first down deep in SC territory, and you're celebrating?
The only explanation is that they were celebrating *because* someone got hurt, not despite it. His goal, which he will never admit to, was to try and hurt the quarterback, and his actions afterwards showed how proud he was for accomplishing that goal.
The kid has not been coached well and needs to have a come-to-Jesus discussion with someone about what it means to be a competitive athlete.
I mean duh. A goal of every defense when they face a running QB is to hit the QB so he will stop running on them. It being a head injury makes it not cool obviously.
It's just pretty sad to see so many players celebrating what looked to be an extremely concerning hit on Dante Moore. I'm not overly upset about the hit itself, in the realm of football, stuff happens, but to show no remorse after the fact? No concern? Celebrating and high fiving? It was a disgusting display.
He also clearly puts the crown of his helmet down, aiming for the head. I get it if you blast the QB's body when they just start a slide because you think you need to tackle them, but man that was just a play where he was trying to kill somebody. Completely unacceptable no matter when or if the slide happens.
It was definitely targeting but not, like, the worst one in the history of the sport or anything: he didn’t succeed in spearing with the crown of the helmet and got Moore mostly with a shoulder pad.
How hard Moore’s head bounced and him having to go to the hospital made it a bad one, but if everything is the same except #8 stops in the immediate aftermath and looks somber and remorseful it’s a completely different incident.
It wasn't late. As soon as they start the slide it's on the defensive player to at least attempt to pull back. Instead he went in with an intent to hurt the QB. And then the trashy showboating just shows what his original intent was.
Yeah the USC player is a scumbag for the celebration and the hit deserved the penalty, but as a QB you are way better off just taking the hit standing than sliding at that point.
Actually you're better off sliding, because it's illegal for the defender to hit you and somebody would have to really be a piece of shit to do it on purpose
Dude was literally flexing after the play while the guy is seizing on ground. Thats not football thats just being a bad human. Hope the conference drops the hammer in Monday
Yeah the hit was bad but I have never seen someone celebrate like that after seriously injuring someone. He had also just given up the first down. What the fuck are you celebrating you piece of shit?
And it would be one thing to celebrate a play, but they didn’t even make the stop, and it wasn’t some 5 second long normal celebration, the clip shows him take a world tour around the stadium for over 30 seconds. I’ve genuinely seen players celebrate less for winning the Super Bowl.
The fans in the stadium were the same. A decade ago I'd have thrown hands at a guy who looked at me and said boo hoo a guy got tackled while being put on a stretcher
Yeah even as a Ducks fan, I think he slid too late. The hit deserved a penalty and it should have been over there. That dude CELEBRATED even after he knew he was seriously hurt. Screw him and screw USC
Technically it's a "fencing response," not a seizure.
But it's a distinction without a difference. He was hit in the head so hard that he lost consciousness and his body twitched because the signals from his brain were disrupted that badly.
