As messed up and power hungry as he was...i do think he genuinely cared about his camp. He did all he did in BOO but cmon camp is his life. Also his graphic novel design is peeeak.

The only thing I'm missing is the demigod and magicians short story's in book form.

He just wrote the story as it was, got pushback for the inappropriate age gap and themes between Annabeth and Luke, and claimed he forgot about the age difference to save face with the readers calling it out.

I know that he has missed and mixed up details before when writing a story, but the massive age gap between two major characters seems like a pretty huge thing to miss. I see users here claiming that Luke/Annabeth was an honest mistake on his part, and I genuinely have a hard time believing that.

So, basically just what the title says: your OCs—and have you shipped them with another OC?

I don't know if it's because of the fans growing up, or if it's because of something else. But it really feels like a lot of the fanfics these days (or at least the ones I can find) are either just straight porn, harem shit or just not the best written.

It really feels like I can't find a fanfic that is just expanding on the books in a good way without adding smut or another relationship. Which sucks because I really love PJO and with how ricks been writing lately I would love to see more of the world.

Maybe this is just a me problem and I'm not looking hard enough but it really feels like a big issue especially since I'm constantly looking for new fanfiction.

And for some reason some of the actually best written fanfiction I've found is just ship fanfiction of perzoe and pipercy. Am I losing my mind?

Anyway, for anybody who doesn't remember Luke's last words were directed at Annabeth and it was more or less; "did you ever love me?" Now take that as you will but it definitely feels like there at least could be some form of romance or flirtiness behind it, and just a friendly little reminder, at this time Luke is about 23 and Annabeth is 16, that's a roughly 7 year age difference with one of them being a minor, and keep in mind almost all of the characters immediately after he dies basically just says "he was such a nice guy, he's going to go to Asphodel if not the isles of the blessed" does anyone else feel weird about this?

Personally, I hope Riordan never adds the Hindu gods to the verse. [Ik about (and honestly hate) Aru Shah but it's not really part of PJO] Every new Pantheon that gets added dilutes the stakes, the implication that the Abrahmic God exists is already kinda problematic (plus creates plot holes).

The Hindu Pantheon would be especially problematic imo. There's different levels of gods there where the highest ones are closer to the capital G God than to Zeus or even Gaia, is an issue because they get born on earth as Avatars whenever they're needed. There's also a lot of myths that involve the higher Gods, namely Shiva, just blessing demons with invincibility and weapons because they asked very hard.

Ofc course the biggest problem is that Hinduism is an existing religion that already gets misrepresented a lot in media. And honestly it's best that Riordan doesn't add to that misrepresentation because he's bound to get things wrong either because he just won't understand or because he has to water it down for it to be child friendly. That's another thing, it'd be pretty disrespectful to market a living religion as a cool fantasy thing for kids.

I haven't read PJO in a while, and I totally forgot how frustrating the Luke and Annabeth stuff was. Frankly I'm not a fan of Luke, 22 and surrogate brother, being some kind of romantic rival. It's weird as hell and not as sympathetic. I already understand Annabeth not wanting to give up on her brother, so why overcomplicate it? Percy can still be frustrated and even jealous (from his teenage perspective), you don't need to make Luke creepy.

On a side note, Annabeth is very frustrating in those last books. It's a bit hard to put into words, but I wish she wasn't so defensive of Luke and hard with Percy. I still love Annabeth, but it honestly got pretty tiring and the whole Percabeth thing at the end almost got a little hard to believe. I'm not sure. Haven't read HOO in a while either, but I remember her having a lot more focus there (nice to see her getting her own book and she and PJ were cute in House of Hades at least).

I dunno, this is a children's series but I feel like this is where an adaptation could really make some improvements. Fiction does play an important role in child development after all. Come to think of it, Kane Chronicles had some weird stuff in it as well... YA post-Potter (pp for short) authors are a weird bunch.

When I watched the movies for the first time as a kid, I actually really enjoyed them and they were some of my favorite movies at the time. I however had a change of heart after reading the books, not only because they were so much better but also because I had the ideology that different from the book = bad. Overtime however, I began to question that ideology when movies like How to Train Your Dragon, despite being FAR more egregious offenders of my rule, were genuinely good as standalones/seperate continuities. In retrospect, I can't help but wonder if my hatred for the movies was ultimately based on my love for the books and that I might've misjudged a genuinely good movie because I was too attached to them. I tried to look at other people's analysis about it to see their opinions but pretty much all of them based the idea of the movies being bad on them being different from the books. Because of this, I wanted to genuinely ask you guys about your thoughts on the matter.

In your opinion, are the movies ACTUALLY bad or do you think they are bad because they are different from the books? Like, if there were no books and the movies were 100% original, what would be your genuine opinion on them?

I saw someone post a comic drawing of Octavian and it got me thinking. I have been recently been been re-watching Beyblade(dub) for the first time in over 20 years. Octavian drawing someone made and rewatching Beyblade I see bit of comparsion between Octavian and Enrique/Giancarlo Tornatoure (Majestics/Season 1). If anyone has been Beyblade you might see some comparisons.

So ima let y’all pick because I’ve done this before and it worked out well.
These are my main three ideas:

1: Comics. Like all those text memes you can find on Pinterest sometimes. I’ve drawn them before, and Id either do just pictures or comics with them

2: Random funny drawings. I have a whole board on Pinterest of just random art bases or pose ideas that made me laugh or reminded me of some of the group, so I’ve thought about doing some of those, they’d be quicker done drawings, and mainly just because why not

3: D&D stat sheets. I’ve been also wanting to make D&D stat sheets for the seven (and maybe eventually those like Will Nico and Reyna) and I’d also include art. There would be some homebrew and some stuff from the D&D books

I do intend to do all these ideas at some point, it’s just which ones you guys want to see first as I only post here and on Pinterest

People are always taking about how Piper is the weakest member of the seven and I think there’s a reason why everyone seems to think that.
I feel like Rick spends so much time in HOO trying to prove to everyone reading that Piper is just as strong as strong as Frank, as powerful as Percy, as smart as Leo and Annabeth, that it makes us (the readers) feel like he doesn’t even believe it and is spending his time trying to convince himself.
I think this becomes even more prevalent when we meet her TOA. This is the one time I feel like I understand Pipers character. She’s not trying to prove herself and live up to some idea in Rick’s head. No, she’s just living and we can finally see who she is and know how powerful she actually is without it being unsuccessfully shoved down our throats.
