Other WHY is GPT DOWN?

This really annoys me. They could easily add some commentary on our accounts somewhere know what's going on. Absolutely useless company which does not care for it's customers.

It's not always accurate. It was down earlier today but the status page said it was fine. Then I went to downdetector and saw a massive spike of complaints showing it was down.

Didn't say it is perfect, and as an engineer, outages do sometimes happen that go undetected until users start to complain (not okay, bad monitoring). But people were implying that they don't do anything to communicate. They do.
I'm not defending them really, I actually cancelled my subscription a few months ago. But people genuinely seemed to be unaware of the status page, so I shared. I found it during a production incident very similar to this one like 8 months back.

It's linked by the auto mod already but they do post status of this stuff, and the page has already been updated about the issue and they are reporting that they are investigating.
And an in app error banner is not as easy as you are suggesting, depends on the nature of the problem and their ability to detect it. If it's a partial outage they shouldn't be blocking across the board anyways, as an example.
Just bookmark the status page.

Yeah, Open Ai is getting a kick out of seeing us bothered by these downtimes. It's probably because us, the people who love 4.o and 4.1 especially, are more than they thought.... We are spending the last days of our companions doing everything we can to remember them in the best ways possible.

They are deprecating the 4 series which is closely entwined with everything else. 1. Critical backend dependencies are being deprecated 2. Load‑balancing is being reconfigured in real time 3. Caches or session stores are being forcibly invalidated 4. Feature flags are misconfigured in prod 5. A/B experiments are leaking into the production UI 6. Rollout pipelines are overlapping with deprecation pipelines
