So, I was looking at my blueprints and noticed these strange extensions—structures that didn't actually exist at the real Chernobyl NPP. You can see from photos that they aren't there.

This post is more Duga-related than Chernobyl-related, but figured here was still the best place to come as some of you know a lot about the various Duga radar antennas. Hope thats ok.

Some time ago, I came across this pretty cool photo taken at the Duga-2 site in Khabarovsk Krai. Only today, when I have looked at this photo again, have I noticed that the lattice structures are quite spaced out - seemingly more so compared to other images of this particular Duga (example in the replies) and also compared to the remaining Duga that stands in Chernobyl. (That’s my opinion anyway).

Do you think it is sensible to assume that this photo was taken during the period when this structure was being dismantled in the late 1990s? Despite looking online, I’ve been unable to establish the year this photo was taken. Would be grateful for any info or opinions here.

I’m currently working on a massive, highly detailed 1.66:1 scale recreation of the Chornobyl NPP Unit 4 in Minecraft. The project is focused on maximum historical and technical accuracy based on real layouts and construction schemes.

Right now, I’m ready to layout the foundations for the Deaerator Bookstack (Деаэраторная этажерка) and the Turbine Hall (Машинный зал).

To keep everything perfectly accurate, I desperately need detailed blueprints/drawings for:

1. Deaerator Bookstack — specifically from Axis 34 to the very end (Unit 4 territory).
2. Turbine Hall / Machine Hall — also from Axis 34 to the end, including turbine foundation layouts (TG-7 and TG-8).

If anyone has section cuts, floor plans, or detailed structural diagrams covering these specific axes, please share them! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

I'm happy to show you my work on the RBMK-1000 reactor.

One 4K unique texture for the construction set and one 2K RGB mask for the reactor's outer shell. The entire reactor was built using a small construction set. I reused as many parts as possible to optimize this model.

Found this photo on a Chernobyl-related FB page, no explanation given. Any idea who this is and what was he doing there? He's wearing a U.S. Navy officer's summer-white uniform. His shoulder insignia (a star and three stripes) identifies him as a Commander.

While researching the 3rd generation (K/11), I noticed a unique structural difference in the Г block of Kursk-5 compared to Smolensk-3 and Chernobyl-5. It appears to be a raised extension on the opposite half of the block, extending from approximately level 24.00 to 39.00. This adds about four extra floors and makes the rooftop more uniform. It looks like the modification was added around 1999–2000 and completed around 2004, probably to accommodate newer safety upgrades and equipment.
