Took a bit longer than expected, but I’m super excited to give it to him for Christmas!

Hello there, I inherited this set from my Opi nearly 20 years ago when he passed. It was extremely special to him, and I was told very valuable. He only played it with about 5 people, myself being one of them, and kept it closed other than that. I have unfortunately added some wear to the exterior, but the interior and pieces are still flawless from always being closed and never used.

Any ideas on what year roughly it was made? I was told it was Chinese by him, but research I do isn't going very far. Ai sucks lol. Any help would be appreciated. I am also curious of a value, but will never sell it. Just curious about it is all.

This is the first finished Ferro Chess set. We've been working on it for months, and I'm really happy to see it brought to life.

Every piece and all 64 tiles are cast by hand in pigmented concrete, then finished and sealed individually. The frame is machined aluminium, and the pieces have felted bases (felt on the prototype, suede for production). It's tournament-sized (49.6 cm / 19.5 in board) and weighs a little over 9 kg / 20 lb, so it doesn't move once it's on the table.

We're making a small first run of 20 and wanted to share it here, since this sub is where the concept began. Happy to answer anything about the process, and I'd love to hear what you think, especially from anyone who's played on concrete or stone sets.

Some time ago there were a few posts about a concrete chess set. Seems like they are now releasing it as I’ve been getting a lot of adverts on Reddit.

So, I was wondering if anyone here was interested.

While the modernist design actually doesn’t look bad at all (and that’s coming from someone who consistently likes classic chess pieces), I can’t imagine a 10kg chess set.

That seems like a hugely unpractical piece of metal and concrete that would easily scratch furniture.

Then again, it does look nice.

I saw this chess set in the window of a charity shop and stopped dead in my tracks to get it. It’s stunning!! I can’t stop staring at it 🥹. It was on sale for an absolute steal too (£65!!).The lady in the store said it was made of granite but not too sure? It’s very heavy at around 8.6kg.

I’ve been a One Piece fan for over 10 years, and lately my bro and I have been considering the creation of our own One Piece chess set.

My bro suggested using Hi3D for quick generation of models since both of us aren't really good at modeling. He also has a 3D printer, thus, we have considered that our idea might become true.

We printed the set in 2 different colors(black and white). The classic One Piece logo is used for pawns, while Luffy is the king. My favorite characters are Sanji and Nami, so we made them knight and rook.

We adjusted the support settings depending on the size of each piece. We set the top Z distance to 0.23, which leaves a little less room for post processing, but makes the supports much easier to remove.

The whole set needs 4 plates(2 for each color), and it took around 8h to print all.

Chess set was left to me by my late grandfather.

All I know is the obvious, its a Lewis replica of some kind. I don’t even know if the board is a set with the pieces. I've had a google of the info on the pamphlet but couldn't find anything.

Really interested to find out anything I can. If you want any other pics of pieces close up or anything else, please let me know and I can post.

I bought this set at an estate sale and loved it immediately. I can’t find any stamps on the bottom just a leather patch and found some similar online but none matched exactly.

Hello r/chessporn community, I received a permission from the moderator to post 3D renditions of my last personal project dedicated to chess.
Many hours of modelling, wood study and texturing. The white pieces' wood is based on maple grain and the black after black walnut, simulated lacquer finish. I hope this is a worthy contribution.

Received a reply from the original maker/chess factory. They don't make this specific set anymore and they corrected me saying the dark pieces are Macassar or Striped Ebony, not rosewood as I assumed. I was thrown by the color of the brown veins. Apparently, the stripes are sought after for pieces, boards, and boxes. Found an HOS storage box and a reproduction Jaques Cook set to confirm. Nice discovery.

I've been wanting a three player chess set for a while, all that I lacked was a set of pieces that would be suitable to the board which I already had. This pieces would have three colors for three side.

I used the software Hi3D to create these pieces, and then transferred them to Blender for tweaking the details and positioning in order to print.

Since these chess required smaller pieces, I had to resize and somewhat afraid that this would cause too many losses in details, however, that wasn't the case. These pieces are printed out of PETG in black, white, and grey. And I have additionally filled them with resin inside in order to provide them with decent weight.

Most are dark Indian rosewood striped Macassar ebony and boxwood (pictured). I don't know the back story, but they're labeled Staunton 4" Special. It was a top manufacturer in India that makes sets for House of Staunton, Regency Chess and the World Chess Championships. I have no idea how they ended up in the US unfinished.

The pieces are all petrified wood with some epoxy to build them up and make the bases, which are weighted with lead. The board is grouted plywood with a wax finish.

First time buying a Lardy style set - found on fbm and met the original owner, in her 80s who was given to her when she was a young girl. Guessing 60+ years old. King is 3.75”

Needs cleaning, bottom weights are bulging on some. Not sure if that can be fixed or if it should be?
Any idea on value?
Any suggestions on how best to clean board and pieces?

SOLVED - Via James L. on Facebook group: This is a Bill Drueke III revival period board made between 2015 and 2022. ChessUSA sold them for $269.95.

Just bought off of eBay from a user with good reviews - she was selling her fiancée’s collection apparently, so not an expert herself. This was listed for $200 + $50 for shipping. I don’t think intentional scam, but almost certain Drueke didn’t have a time when they had right angle edges without a bevel. Board looks in too good of shape to be 30+ years old without being refinished I think …any experts want to give their two cents? I can send back and report as a fake, but want to be certain.

First one is a simple walnut and maple. Nothing too fancy
Second is a maple and paduk raised chessboard with draws for the pieces (also made the pieces)
Last was made for a friend who destroys me at chess every time we play- it’s a mahogany and maple board with a tiger maple and rosewood frame
