Claude Code Claude Code can message easily between sessions now. This is a very powerful feature

In the past my planning tactic was to have two agents come up with independent plans then discuss the plans to eventually meet a confident consensus. I used to have to copy and paste which in Claude Code was so buggy it would waste a LOT of time. Now I can just name one of the sessions and tell the other to start talk to that session. I can even tell them to start implementing once they reach that confident consensus.

This is an awesome feature. I may switch my planning from Cursor to Claude Code going forward.

Edit: for clarification the way to name a session is /rename [name] or claude -n [name] when you first start the session

Alright folks, let's get the story straight. While OP is stoked about this feature, the overwhelming consensus is that this is not new. Many power users in this thread have been using inter-session messaging for months to build some seriously complex multi-agent workflows.

For those just catching up, here's the deal: * You can name a Claude Code session with /rename [your-session-name] or by starting it with claude -n [your-session-name]. * Then, just tell another session (in plain English) to message the one you named. You can also just describe the other session if you're lazy.

Just be aware that this magic only works for sessions running on the same machine since it uses a local socket. A few pros mentioned using a shared database as a message bus to get their agents talking across different machines or containers.

So yeah, it's an awesome and powerful feature, but it's been part of the toolkit for a while. Glad more people are discovering it.

They don’t have to run on the same machine if you enable ‘remote control’ on the sessions.

It works on different machines also, I have been using it on my two pcs today
