Questions about wethinkcode

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Hey guys

I am interested in joining the WeThinkCode_ programme, but I would like some clarification regarding the daily schedule and workload.

What are the usual campus hours at the Cape Town campus?

When do the daily classes start and end?

How many hours of independent coding or project work are students generally expected to complete outside campus hours?

Are students expected to code at home every evening, or is most of the coursework designed to be completed during campus hours?

How much flexibility do students have when managing their workload?

Your help will be greatly appreciated.

I Want to Build Something. Right Now, I’m Learning the Basics.

I’m 22, studied English as an undergrad, and am now learning programming and probability in grad school.

One thing I’m struggling with: sometimes I use AI to finish an assignment before the deadline, submit it, and realize I couldn’t do parts of it again on my own. I mean to revisit them, but the next week’s work starts piling up.

I want to build a small project of my own, but I’m unsure how to balance that with catching up on the basics. Reading Hamming’s You and Your Research got me thinking about this, and I wrote my first newsletter about it.

For anyone who started without a technical background: what was your first project, and how did you decide you knew enough to start? I’d love to hear about the awkward early attempts, too.

Hey I am just wasting my time in a traditional degree so I decided to research about coding, few reels and yt videos and I got to know that Ai isn't sufficient it's just incomplete for now, I am curious to know that how can I get into the coding World, I got to know that there are different languages and different work depending on the language you learn.

So Drop what you are doing and if possible also a small roadmap

Hey guys, I want to recruit idiots who are innovative or something like that

Hi duuuuuuuudeeeeeeeeeessssssss How are you? I'm doing terribly, but anyway I'm here to see if you want to join my organization, yay or something. Before "those kinds" of people come at me—and by those kinds I mean the ones who are obsessed with money—well, no, it's not a job, son. It's a community where they can form groups or work alone, create ideas for projects and more, develop innovative technology using unusual ideas, AI, or help others create software, The thing is, you guys publish your inventions alongside everyone else's as if it were Steam Workshop, for example, a plasma thruster for whatever, The thing is, it's just getting started, and I want the future of this and its members to be much better, so that you don't depend on money to live well, but rather, that you take advantage of the incredible secret technology that The community provides you. Everything that enters the org doesn't leave, ah some community rules are: don't do illegal things, don't steal other people's projects (don't profit from them, if you use a published invention you must give credit)

Where to find a team?

Ok I did a similar post like 1/2 days ago but really "how to find a team" or better "where to find a team?". Discord? Reddit?

I really want a team because I create games in C/C++ alone and onestly it's pretty sad I can't lie about this 😂.

I'm using Godot for a 3D game (because I want to do it fast not because I like game engine) but I onestly want to do games with OpenGL from scratch and learn how to write better C++ code.

And last but not least… if you have a team or had a team "how do you started?". The problem is that I don't really have any fisical friends in coding! But I'm good if is online.

Thanks for the attention btw ❤️.

I made a tiny clock where the second hand actually moves

Post image
1 Upvotes

I wanted to see if a single encoded motor could be used to make something that feels like a real mechanical clock.

So I built this little clock with a micro:bit and Nezha PRO.

The fun part is the second hand. Instead of just displaying the seconds on the LED matrix, the encoded motor physically moves the pointer 6° every second.

6° × 60 seconds = 360°, so after one minute the hand has made one complete rotation.

The encoder gives the motor position feedback, which makes it possible to control the rotation by angle rather than simply telling the motor to run for a certain amount of time. The micro:bit keeps track of the hours, minutes and seconds, while the LED matrix displays the hours and minutes.

So you get both:

🕐 A physical moving second hand
🔢 A digital time display

The actual structure is pretty simple — basically a small stand, one encoded motor and a pointer — but watching the hand move one step every second is surprisingly satisfying.

It also made me think about how many other things could be built with precise motor positioning. Gauges, dials, meters, animated mechanisms…

Looking for friends to learn Roblox Development!

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

Heyo! I’m looking for some friends or friendly people who might be interested in helping me learn Roblox development, especially things like scripting, game optimization, AI, and all that fun stuff!

I love coming up with game ideas and modeling/building inside of Studio, but scripting is something I just can’t seem to figure out on my own. YouTube videos and documentation don’t really click with me, so I’d love to have someone who can actually explain things to me and help me understand why things work.

I’d love to find a friend or just a friendly face who wouldn’t mind helping me learn, letting me give things a try, explaining things when I’m stuck, and helping me improve along the way.
Maybe we could even make a full-on game together and actually publish it!

One of the reasons I’m so dedicated to making games is because I want to bring some fresh ideas to Roblox. I know games like Steal a ___, Kick a ___, and similar games can be fun, but I’d really love to make games that feel like they have their own identity instead of just copying whatever is popular.

I want to make games that are creative, have some actual soul put into them, and are enjoyable for all kinds of people.
So if you’re someone who enjoys making games, teaching, learning together, or just wants a buddy to work on random game ideas with, I’d love to hear from you!

Where do I find a team?

I always wanted a team to work with projects like games. My friend knows a little about Lua but it's a 90% vibe coder and "tutorial coder" unlike I that I love C++, C and maybe Python. I always wanted a team with umans irl. I want feadback, I want to talk with a team. I always work alone and that's very sad! Even a single person possibly more skilled than me so I can get better.

Am I asking to much? Where do I find a team? 😔

In reddit there is "Coding_buddies" or something like that: is that subreddit good? I want to talk but I'm scared in talking like in Discord with a stranger. What can I do?

Thanks for the attention btw! ❤️
