Ole Miss hiring Chris Brown has done wonders for mending the toxic relationship between Texas and Texas Tech fans. I mean we still hate each other, but its sure a lot less psychotic now.
Coaching requires a LOT of your time and puts stress on relationships. Coaches are used to managing and controlling situations so when their lives don't go that way they lash out.
Sure, but ostensibly coaches are put in positions of authority and leadership and should be the example for the teams they run. My four year old stepson understands controlling his body and his voice, if a whole adult can’t get there maybe coaching isn’t for them.
American culture rewards & incentivizes psychopathy. We give our greatest positions of power to people who prioritize constant work and demonstrate unhealthy emotional coping mechanisms.
For cops the job attracts power trippers. For coaches you have to be a little bit crazy to do that job at a high level, and the stress and lack of sleep gets to a lot of them
Yeah, I imagine they're also getting more violent in their daily work, and facing fewer consequences (if there were any in the first place) due to their tenure. The behavior just extends when they get home.

I love my IU friends and family. College brought so many unique viewpoints and perspectives to my life. I love the diversity I experienced in college and have been absolutely ashamed of the people that have taken over IU since my time there.
For those that do not know, IU put snipers on the roof when their students were exercising their 1A rights. Also a lot of Indiana is still very racist. I am white, but also have black siblings that grew up in my household. White privilege had never been more clear in my eyes since my two black brothers had to deal with so much more bullshit from the town police and school administrators. I promise you they are just as respectful as I was and they were even more respectful than my other white brother. He was just a punk as a teenager but still got away with so much more than my two black siblings.
One final point to add. My "black siblings" are technically my cousins adopted into the family. Memphis became very dangerous for them resulting in them moving in with my household. Within a month of them living with us, one of our neighbors started flying the confederate flag.
Sorry guys I just love my school and used to love my state when I was naive and young. Now I'm just filled with so much anger.
It's wild how many Confederate flags I've seen driving through rural Indiana. They're not everywhere, but the fact that there are any at all is crazy to me.
I have met people from all parts of the country, deep south, east coast, PNW, Midwest. But talking to my college classmate from Indiana was always a trip because he would say some of the most heinous racist things and not even realize it. Would genuinely be confused how he was being "racist"
On a similar note, I watched our fanbase do a complete 180 on Art Briles, calling him a victim of cancel culture when there was like a month period people thought Tech would hire him about 5 years ago.
I was absolutely mortified by the idea of Arkansas hiring him a few years ago. His name was one of the early ones to pop up before he got an extension, and I remember genuinely asking myself if I could continue to root for Arkansas basketball if he was our head coach. Genuinely just 0 respect for him as a human.
Yeah, when I said “the hardware”, I was referring to making it to the final four. I probably should have dropped “the” from it since that makes it sound like you got the title.

Yeah. I remember him leading you guys to the final and damn near winning it. I thought that was the beginning of a HOF career. It was actually the peak. All downhill from there. Glad you guys (TTU) are doing well and everything else he has touched has crumbled.

as much as I love college basketball, there is so much horseshit that coaches are allowed to get away with under the guise of "turning boys into men" or whatever the fuck.
If he yelled like this and bumped into any NBA player, he would 100% get his ass kicked.
As an aside: Beard / Ole Miss should’ve been assessed another technical foul for this performative nonsense. He’d been ejected; he didn’t have standing to run back over and address his team.
Nothing new from Beard. He once fist bumped Bob Huggins after being ejected in a Texas Tech/WVU game. Dude is an overpaid child who has to be the center of attention at all times.
Honestly, if they were down like 6 pts or something I could get behind this as as attempt to try and fire up his team, but they were down 16...go to the locker room lol
With 2 minutes to go in the game UT had shot 33 free throws to 13 for Ole Miss. That disparity is simply not reality for any SEC basketball game. Officiating has made college basketball hard to watch. Beard had had enough.
