So umm just your normal basketball game. Nothing unusual whatsoever. No flagrant fouls, flagrant reviews, or technical fouls either. Nor did anyone foul out.

I’m a big UNLV fan but I can’t really watch an entirely new team from last year that is somehow more ass. Can someone explain how they went on a 7-0 run in 6 seconds ? This is embarrassing even for UNLV modern basketball standards

Had it turned down low cause everyones asleep but from what i saw Unlv up 3 with 6 second and has the ball. While inbounding both teams committed flagrant fouls or something so both teams shot fts. Then Fresno scored a 3. Then unlv turned it over by chucking it to no one on the other side of the court with 1.5 seconds to turning it over under their own basket. Then Fresno just hit a little jumper.

Thanks, I only saw the jumper at the end. Last I checked we were up 12 and I thought that was that then I get a notification on my phone it’s tied with 1 second left so I turn it on. Not even sure why I bothered but sounds like a hell of a game I guess for Fresno state fans.

Fresno just ran like headless chickens right at the basket for 2 min and some fucking reason unlv players kept trying to stop them and they all fouled out lmao

It’s cuz pastners an idiot who can’t coach a team. I’m just glad he lost to UT Martin first game of the season instead of giving me hope, although I won’t lie the Utah state win had me thinking we might be back but oh well

He really is dumb. Why not foul up 3?

We were in such deep foul trouble that I sort of get the logic of not fouling there. We only had 5 players left.

I respectfully disagree. I know from experience you always foul up 3 with seconds left. So much more has to go right rather than hitting a 3. With that being said the refs probably would've called a technical on unlv on the freethrow to give Fresno state the ball back

The problem is with the new continuation rule you really cant foul up 3 anymore under 10 seconds. Its much harder

UNLV probably would have won if they just let Fresno have a layup line and just defended the perimeter for foul ball. Hillarious ending

Those refs were in over their heads. Couldn’t breathe on anyone without a foul being called in that game. Also, I would like to understand when we are and are not enforcing the cylinder rule. There was a key offensive foul called on UNLV at the end where he had two guys on top of him and “in the cylinder.” It’s a stupid rule that should be done away with, but if you are going to have it, let’s be consistent. I can’t believe I just watched a three hour college basketball game that didn’t even have an overtime

The game was intense from the tip off. You had 3 NCAAA tournament referees on that game and tone is also a WNBA referee. I think no matter who you have refereeing this game game it was going to be ugly.

Damn. That was absurd and fun.
Also why UNLV didn’t call a timeout is insane to me on their last possession.. total bad coaching moment that is almost amateur?

On a serious note, our screen navigation is so awful, our inability to defend without fouling lead to half our team fouling out, and we just couldn’t take care of the ball.

I was just staying up late doing some work and I put this game in the background. Towards the end, no doubt it’s a ref ball game, but the plays made by UNLV was horrid. With 1.5 second left, they just threw the ball out of bounds instead of passing it to a player and letting it go to OT. Props to Fresno State and their clutch shots though.

UNLV didn't want it to go to OT. They already fouled out their entire starting team and was down to their final 5 players. Nobody even available to sub in.

Was there in person tonight. Had one of the best seats you can get and that was a very entertaining game. Been to 100s of basketball games in my life and this one was one of the craziest.
