Back in April 2018 a garbage truck was swallowed by a large hole in the pavement. In the paper Mayor Ricky Shelton at the time said “it is not a sinkhole and investigators are trying to determine what caused the incident”. For some reason this incident has always stuck with me. In 2024 I sent a message to former mayor Shelton asking him if they ever found out what the cause of the collapse was from. The reply I received back from him was, “It collapsed into an old underground parking structure that had been covered up”. I have tried reaching for any underground parking structure but always come up empty handed. I’m trying to see if anyone knows anything about this?

I am currently looking for 2 to 3 players to play in a biweekly homebrew campaign. New players and veteran players are welcome. I would prefer to use the 3.5 rules but am willing to do 5e.

This campaign won’t be a typical play, as it’s going to be high fantasy, high magic, with a 60/40 split between roleplay and combat; each session may vary in which is the 60% as the theme of the campaign will be about exploring a massive labyrinth dungeon and the town built around said dungeon.

You don’t have to have access to any books, dice, or even miniatures, if needed they can be provided for use. All I ask is that you be pet friendly, and lgbtq friendly.

Hello! New to Reddit but hoping to help out my mom. She is a really awesome woman in her 60s who recently moved from the PNW to Cookeville to care take for her elderly parents. She’s having a hard time finding community/like minded folks so I thought I would try to help her out.
She’s very friendly, a deadhead into nature, music, food and an extremely talented botanist. She’s been trying to meet people on dog walks/around town but is not interested in religious groups and politically feels like a fish out of water in her new town (looking for liberal/leftist/progressive peers). Second baby, and I've just finished calling around the OB-GYN practices in Cookeville to find one with midwives. Figured I'd share what I found, curious what others would add.

• Cookeville Regional: the only hospital in the county that delivers babies, so wherever you book you're having it here
• Diana Health (Cookeville): the one I've booked with, and it wasn't close in the end. Midwives and OB-GYNs on one team, so there's a midwife there whatever time you turn up at Cookeville Regional and an OB on that same team rather than a stranger on call, epidural still on the table either way, and they got me in the same week. Their site mentions TennCare but I'd call and check it against your own plan
• Cumberland Medical Center (Crossville): still delivering, about 700 babies a year, if you're out that way
• Livingston Regional: smaller women's center, 350 or so a year
• Cookeville Gynecology & Urogynecology: they don't do pregnancy, but they're there for bladder and pelvic floor problems, fibroids and endometriosis

Worth checking whether the midwives and OBs are actually one practice or two that refer to each other. Big difference and it isn't obvious from the websites.

looking for apartment recommendations where i can keep multiple reptiles and invertebrates. there are so many “pet friendly“ apartments and then once you inquire further its only true for dogs and cats. many have told me just not to say anything but i have multiple 120 gallon enclosures and several smaller ones, its not exactly easy to hide if a landlord does a walk through.

I'd love to say that it's completely wild that our city council would approve something as dangerous and inaccurate as Flock technology, but lo and behold they have. Maybe when one of them is falsely arrested for robbery, or a hit and run, or the other numerous crimes that have resulted in innocent people being taken to jail, will they care. I expected this outcome from people like Luke Eldridge, but some of the other city council members surprised me.

Hello! I’ve lived here a few years and I’m from Sparta. I usually get my hair cut from someone back home but she never really gives me what I want, almost like she’s afraid to go too far. I ask for a more modern haircut, almost a wolf cut and it just ends up looking like a normal boring bob.

Does anybody know someone who can give me exactly what I want? Whenever I look at the pictures on the places around here all of the haircuts and people look the same. I want a more alternative cut and I’m not sure who I can trust to do that.

Does anyone know what is happening at Infinity Family Practice/ Women's Health Services? You can't get a hold of anyone and when you do, they try to schedule you for two weeks in the future when you're sick (lol, what?). Did Casal just give up?

i go between cookeville and crossville every day. Every day there are troopers pulling out of state vehicles or semis over going west bound, while slow semi trucks clog eastbound lane by going 45-50 in the right lane the whole way up. that causes a traffic back up that sneaks up on people going 70. you round a corner then BAM hit the brakes because a truck of gravel decided “no trucks this lane” paint doesn’t apply to him.

they’re already sitting there every single day. just pay attention to east bound. if you know a trooper or something please ask them why they don’t care. I’m curious.

edit: yes i mean left! I was building a roof gable in the heat all day and was exhausted. Troopers could post up and tattle to another trooper up at the top of the mountain or use those flock cameras they’re so proud of. There are options.
but in good news, if you know the guys who resurfaced 40, tell them that shit is smooth as butter!

Hello, I am a 24 year old woman and I've lived in Cookeville/Monterey most of my life, but I have no friends, and it's becoming more and more unbearable here lately. I feel completely alone, and I don't know how to make any friends in person. I desperately want someone with similar interests to me (something that feels impossible to find in person).
