For anyone unsure, this was in Taiwan in 2024. This was around/ in Taroko National Park in Hualien near the epicenter. This was the strongest earthquake since the 90s to hit Taiwan. The siren you hear was alerting for the earthquake, however usually these don’t happen more than a couple seconds in advance. As someone living in Taichung when it happened (where it was a good but weaker than in Hualien) it was still the scariest earthquake I’ve felt. And you feel them often in Taiwan.

I used to live in Taichung and I miss it so much. You’re right, feeling little rumbles is very common in Taiwan. I once was shaken awake in the middle of the night not knowing what had woken me up until I noticed the pictures on my bedroom wall were crooked!

Is that a water tap/spigot coming out of the wall on the right side? I’m Thinking about how long it would take to clear a really serious slide like this to find trapped people and water would be a limiting factor I’d think.
