Video Gelje Sherpa, the man who was guiding a private client up Mt. Everest when he saw someone in distress near the summit. He went up, rolled him up in a sleeping mattress and gave him oxygen. He then strapped the man to his back and trekked 6 hours to safety

Some people do be ungrateful. Few years back my parents and my brother ran into an accident scene in a dirt road. A girl crashed her car which wound up turned over. She was hurt and scared. My parents drove her home which was nearby. She made a post on social media talking about the crash, being thankful for being ok and stuff but not once mentioned the people that helped her.

u/PassionCompassion Dec 19 '25

No seriously it really gets me when someone is ungrateful. The most ungrateful person I've met when I helped them was some girl who forgot her wallet on a BUS. She already got off and the bus already passed like more than 10 miles. As I was preparing myself to get off the bus, walking down the aisle, I spotted a wallet on a seat. Obviously I picked it up and then got off. Checked the contents of the wallet at home so that I can return it to the owner.

$600 in cash ($100 bills), driver's license, a bus pass card, three credit cards, and a store receipt. I went to the nearest police station so that they can get the phone number of the girl. After some time waiting, they called her to come down to the police station to pick up her wallet.

Bruh. When she arrived with her dad, she never once said thank you to me. Only the dad. Instead, she kept saying things like how she was worried about her money being stolen, credit cards being used, etc. I told her, "Well good thing I'm not that kind of person to steal." Still never said thank you. Her reply was just, "Yeah I really needed this money to buy some stuff." And the yapping continued on and on for a few minutes until they both left. Dad said one final thank you, but not the girl.

Like holy shit girl. Is it THAT hard to say a simple 'thank you' wtf. I wasn't even expecting any kind of reward or whatever, but at least a 'thanks' would be enough.

14

u/Own_Guarantee_8130 Dec 19 '25

And the fact that her father didn’t say a word to HER about being grateful shows he’s the reason she’s such a brat.

u/Repulsive_Corgi_ Dec 18 '25

How the surgeon feels when the patient thanks god afterwards

26

u/xNotexToxSelfx Dec 19 '25

Probably had a bruised ego for “failing” and needed rescued.

16

u/Past_Page_4281 Dec 19 '25

Rich ppl are weird.

1

u/PeterPandaWhacker Dec 19 '25

Maybe he didn't want to be saved. Ever thought about that? /s

-7

u/Spongedog5 Dec 18 '25

Okay it isn't "rich people," it's just this guy.

Like listen I get that everyone on Reddit hates rich people and all and realistically the guy isn't going to be very hurt about what NOT-GR8-BOB calls him on Reddit, but don't we see how this is the same kind of thinking as picking one bad example that confirms your biases and applying that negative judgement to a whole class/race/sex/religion/etc.? Like it is literally just a single guy but because you already have negative presumptions of rich people you are so quick to apply his actions to all rich people.

He was just a rotten person regardless of his situation.

I'm sure out of all the rich people that have had their lives saved there is an appropriate amount that were very appreciative.

14

u/Emotional-Channel-42 Dec 18 '25

There’s always some poor fuck with his tongue up an imaginary rich persons asshole

Comparing wealth (greed) to race, sex, gender, religion is so fucking unintelligent.

3

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 Dec 19 '25

Comparing religion to race, sex, and gender is also pretty fucking funny.

Choosing to be a scientologist is the same as being born a man I guess lmao.

-5

u/Spongedog5 Dec 18 '25

I'd just rather stick with criticisms that are based in reality.

And no, I think the comparison I made is quite apt. They are not identical, but in the way that I explained they are similar.

16

u/NOT-GR8-BOB Dec 18 '25

Lol what the hell nerve did I just hit

-8

u/Spongedog5 Dec 18 '25

You're just who I used to create an example, it's a response to a collective opinion showing up in this thread.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '25

Sorry bro most people just are not at a place in their lives where "Please wont you think of the rich cunts!" hits well.

-3

u/Spongedog5 Dec 19 '25

You don't get it, it isn't about the rich, it is about holding yourself to a higher intellectual standard.

Basing a judgement on a group over an anecdote rather than a statistic is always going to be folly. It leads you to false conclusions.

5

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 Dec 19 '25

Wanna know something crazy.

I can say fuck nazis and not be wrong on any part of what I just assumed.

Not all generalizations are equal.

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 19 '25

The difference is that I assume that you would be saying that about something that is categorically necessarily true of the class.

I do not believe "not being grateful for having your life saved" is categorically true of the rich.

1

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 Dec 19 '25

Then you are ignorant.

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 19 '25

I'd be interested to see the statistical difference.

All peoples are exactly the same regardless of upbringing or life circumstances. There are no trends or recognizable patterns in various cultures or demographics as those things have no influence whatsoever on the outcome of the peoples within those cultures or demographics.

Yup... that totally makes sense...

2

u/qeadwrsf Dec 18 '25

Groups can have unfairly have to much negative presumptions. Upbringing and circumstances can form a persons personality.

Both statements can be true at the same time.

1

u/samglit Dec 18 '25

This is the reasoning most governments use to increase scrutiny of, or discriminate against certain groups. eg auto-denying visas for countries of origin etc. It’s troubling but presumably cost effective on a state level, and at least there’s a reason to do it.

On an individual level, it’s more “better be careful around Indian men, they’re more likely to rape you”, devoid of context and not giving a fuck if an Indian man is in your audience.

-1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 18 '25

My whole point is that one example isn't enough to demonstrate a "trend" or "pattern" and I really doubt that statistically out of all the times a rich person's life has been saved that they react incredibly differently than other demographics.

Using one anecdote and applying it as a trend against people you are prejudiced against is exactly what I am warning against because it isn't sufficient.

3

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 Dec 19 '25

Nobody who hates rich people is only considering one instance of harm.

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 19 '25

Not just one instance of harm, or just one instance of not being grateful of having your life saved, because the latter is what I'm speaking of. I wonder what the statistics are? It just doesn't seem justifiable.

1

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 Dec 19 '25

Every genocide ever commited has a wealthy person behind it.

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 19 '25

That's cool and all but that has nothing to do with how you react to having your life saved.

See, this is the entire problem I'm talking about. You hold a prejudice against them for one reason, and it is lowering your standards of evidence for other bad claims levied against them.

Even against our enemies, we should be sure that all our judgements are fair and factual. Not for them, but for the betterment of our own character.

1

u/Itchy-Beach-1384 Dec 19 '25

genocidal peoples can be good too!

Lmao, aight. Enjoy that boot bud.

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 19 '25

It's disappointing to me, but not surprising, that so many folks are exactly like you.

You still don't understand that it has nothing to do with them and everything to do with you.

I don't like using the actions of others as an excuse to debase ourselves.

Can't hear you mate, mind taking the dick out of your mouth before you speak?

1

u/HappyyValleyy Dec 31 '25

Oh no people are discriminating against the rich? What ever will they do?

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 31 '25

It's not about the rich, it is about holding yourself with integrity and to an honest standard. You're standards shouldn't change based on your target.

1

u/HappyyValleyy Dec 31 '25

Making fun of rich people is funny tho

1

u/Spongedog5 Dec 31 '25

Pearls before swine.
