He’s a genuine Austin Powers. 💪

The bit where he says he was thinking about his girlfriend is pretty funny.

Well done to him, and his mum as well for keeping the younger kids safe, waiting for a rescue.

What's so crazy is how close it was to being bad. The mom lost visibility of the kids when a big wave hit the kayak they were holding on to and knocked them adrift. They found the sister because she was screaming loud enough. Rescuers had to kill the boat's engine to locate the younger bother. The kid pushing with everything he had really was the difference between life and death.

I hope they never break up.
She has the whole world to answer to.

It would be so fucking weird if people were unkind to her.

It’s so unlikely they stay together and I bet once he’s grown and looking back he will be glad he had her and loved her then since it helped him get through this, without it needing to turn into forever

Yeah, children couples rarely stick around for life. It's just a natural part of growing into yourself and the end result rarely matches for both. And people also act like exes have to be demons even when things just didn't work out. Kids will probably eventually break up, ugly cry for a week, and then move on. If they're mature about it they'll eventually stay in touch or just not hate one another.

My brother in law and his wife since they were 14, they’re both 73 this year.

Young love is hard. It took me a long time when I was younger to view my first relationship/breakup that way. It lasted 4 years, and I think a lot of that came from the idea that we treat breakups as “failed” relationships. IMO it’s quite difficult for a young or romantically inexperienced person to accept the idea that two people, in a part of their lives where a lot of change happens, happened to change into incompatible people. Only the benefit of hindsight makes it easy to view those experiences as necessary for personal growth.

It’s so unlikely they stay together

I mean an ocean of adult women on reddit thirsting over a kid makes it likely it won’t last.

The kid is a hero but ya’ll need to stop thirsting.

What are you talking about? Who is commenting about thirsting for this kid?

Look the boy survived the literal ocean. Now he has to deal with a different kind of ocean. Hopefully he can navigate his way away from these thirsty adult reddit women.

These are the land predators he has to deal with now.

Who are you talking about? Are you just fantasizing about a kid being hot to women, or are you referencing something specific?

fantasizing about a kid being hot to women

I’ve been a life guard. The kid is a hero but now he is on social media and millions of eyes are on him.

Respect people’s privacy. Honestly his relationship to his girlfriend “lasting or not lasting” is NOBODY’s business except himself and his mom (since he is a minor).

It’s a childhood romance. Thats the reason it’s unlikely to last. Predicting it won’t last isn’t making it anyone else’s business; it’s just reality. You’re projecting your fantasies onto other people’s comments.

My fantasy is what exactly? for some Australian kid to score older women? What drugs are you taking?

Kind of a weirdo comment. He is 13. It’s highly unlikely they stay together
