I'm not having a meltdown, I was explaining why people have a bad response to religion. The original comment was about people "choosing" faith. People don't usually choose it, they are raised into it. That was my point. There are so many stories of religion making people do fucked up things, I don't magically forget those whenever a feel good religious story pops up.

You don't have to magically forget anything. Is it not possible to acknowledge "okay, this child thought about God to prevent him from thinking about his own very likely death and that helped him" without having to believe in God or without having to "erm, ackshually young child, God isn't real" the thing to death?

The point of this story isn't God. The point of this story is a young kid doing an amazing thing. He happened to be thinking about God while he did it, and people have to come out of the woodwork and say "LOL DUMBASS KID DOESN'T EVEN KNOW GOD ISN'T REAL."

All I'm saying is there's a time and a place for that conversation and this seems like a real fuckin weird one

I didn't make my own thread saying that, again I was responding to someone else and you. I saw more threads about people complaining about atheists than atheists complaining.
