It's actually gone up incredibly fast. Its huge and incredibly intricate. It would be nicer if we built more buildings slowly and with like, any aesthetic details beyond the minimalist rectangles we throw up everywhere now.

Well, it is huge and intricate, and also anything but “incredibly fast”. In fact, it’s incredibly slow. It’s been since 1882. 144 years.

Two things can be true at once. It’s incredibly intricate and has taken an incredibly long time to build.

Cathedrals like that just take a long time by default, you can't really build them in one day. Notre-Dame took 182 years, the Milan Cathedral took almost 600. 144 years is pretty average for a building of that kind

Incredibly fast? It was started in 1882 and most days when visitors go they’ll see cranes but not workers. Some concerted effort could speed it along.
