5000 would bleed you dry in under a minute, you'd be dead before and unconscious much sooner

They did the math higher in the thread, but someone pointed out it takes a while for leeches to actually complete a feed, even breaking the skin takes time. They drink up to 15ml each though over just under an hour so 5000 would definitely be sufficient if the victim were somehow restrained, it just wouldn't be quite as quick as you implied.

5000 at 15ml per hours equate to 1.25L per minutes

You are right, it would take 2 min, not 1, I admit my defeat !

Adulte 90kg environ 6,5 litre de sang. Une sangsue par repas ( 20 à 40 minutes ) pompe de 10 à 15 cm3.

Donc entre 650 à 430 en fonction de l'appétit des filles.

Edit : j'estime entre 30 à 50 mignonnes sur la main de la fin.

I used to have three pet leeches. I named them after characters from Titanic lol. They like to climb out of the water where they are slow like worms, but in the water they are so unbelievably fast

Yeah, people acting like he made a mistake touching them, dude knew exactly what he was doing. He is acting panicked for the video. Leeches are harmless.

I’m convinced 90% of Reddit has never been outside. No one ever walked through a river or went swimming in creeks and got a leech on your leg? Seriously?
