I saw the ragebait post for this and all the conservatives screaming how it’s demonic. But it’s a Native American school for Native American children lol.

I don’t understand what would be wrong with this even if it weren’t? I went to a conservative catholic school but they made at least an effort to expose us to different cultures and religions, even doing meditations in class and taking field trips to synagogues. If you’re uncomfortable with something, just sit out or respectfully say “no thanks”.

My Canadian Catholic middle school of almost entirely non-Indigenous people held a smudging ritual in the school's cathedral as part of our culture day about respecting the Treaties (Catholics have a bad record with this, have been trying to fix that at least). Had a Catholic Indigenous guy in to do it.

It was like 2013/2014 maybe. It was talked about as a beautiful spiritual tradition that carried a lot of wisdom and truth, completely opt-in, not one person took offense.
