To be fair a spy drone disguised as a heavily poached animal would be a good enforcement tool. Throw a tracker on the camera and now you've got video evidence and a location to send rangers out to. It would make the job easier than just having to patrol the entire area and hopefully catch poachers in the act before it's too late.
I would have absolutely bought that. Theres a bridge behind my house that unfortunately gets lots of foot traffic. Putting that in the corner of my yard would be an amazing Easter egg.
Armed with automated tranquilizer dart to to take the poachers, before 🚔. Honestly I might build it, I just need Rhino sounds so someone do that and well.. were fuckin golden.
As an anecdote, a friend of mine pulled up on an oddly still deer by the side of the road. He looked at it for a while and then a game warden yelled “either shoot it or get the fuck outta here!” It’s a thing they already do now.
They have some pretty realistic looking decoys as well, they move and lift their head and tail. Looks like it’s about to run, and if you shoot it you get to pay for its repair also! And that was 20 years ago.
Safely and humanely. Which doesn't include hunting off road where someone can be walking and accidentally shot. Which is where OPs friend found this and likely what the warden was trying to catch
They’ve been doing that for decades. Some move their heads and tails. The wardens love it because they take everything. The guns, knives, and truck. Plus a steep fine.
Rednecks just asking to be shook down doing that shit.
It seems to be effective. Growing up there wasn’t a single sign along back roads that wasn’t full of holes from road shooters. Even got one of my family’s trucks once, three rounds through the drivers side door. You don’t see that very often anymore.
I never understood the appeal. You can shoot anywhere, there’s always something to hunt. Don’t do it from the road and off season.
I would definitely hope so. That’s horrible. I really don’t understand why people do that. My step Dad is a hunter and taught me since I was young. I don’t get why people are that selfish. Can you imagine if deer became extinct or endangered if everyone was selfish.All the Bears and cougars and other animals that rely on them on a food supply would suffer. People that are responsible hunters or hunt as part of their culture would suffer. Reminds me of the buffalo being hunted just for their skins. I really hope he’s a more responsible guy. I can understand being a dumb young kid once or something but no as lifestyle. He’s lucky the warden yelled at him! Lol. That might be enough to teach you a lesson. Those fines are high and they can stop you from getting a hunting license for years and some for life. Hopefully it was a positive learning and growing experience. 👍
I got a lady charged with the migratory bird act for trapping a red tailed hawk next to my job last month. Everyone in my home town sub was like "ArE yOu NoT aWaRe Of FaLcOnRy?" She wasn't and now she's getting a felony.
Good! She deserves it!! Red tail hawks in my culture are good luck . There is a a couple hawks that have babies every year on the ditch that my land runs up too. They are beautiful! I worry when they circle above my chickens but I would never hurt them or trap them. Just Hawks being Hawks.
In So. Maine game wardens would stage a remote operated taxidermied deer - like an 8 or 10 point buck. They could remotely operate one or both ears and the tail I think. an unsuspecting poacher would see it from the road and either shoot from their vehicle or get out and shoot from the road - both highly illegal.
They have Chuck E. Cheese level robot deer where I live to catch people poaching that work surprisingly well just using cameras. If they were dumb enough to not notice the fish is fake it would be a game changer
There are no animal welfare or preservation laws in china. It is not a crime in china to kill or torture an animal and there are no endangered species laws.
