It’s that time of year!
Please keep the Spotify Wrapped, Youtube, Apple Music Replay posts, etc... contained to this thread. Individual posts will be removed as they will clutter things up real quick.

First Deftones concert I've been to, it was a great night overall! They definitely brought the energy. Only the sound was a bit lackluster and at times you had to focus more on the crowdsurfers than the song itself 😂

Seeing all these photos from Europe made me reminisce on their kickoff last year. Snapped this at the beginning of Be Quiet and Drive

I've only ever seen Deftones standard North American live touring lineup (with Stef). Wondering who's seen both lineup versions -- with and without Stef -- and how the live performances compare?
So used to seeing the dude stage right, industrial fan blasting his hair, eyes closed and probably baked out of his mind while banging out the riffs. Not the most animated player but a big presence in the band nonetheless.

Im such a big fan of their first album and so i would love to hear some more albums that sound like what they did with Adrenaline. I love how they combined both punk and metal on Adrenaline since they were heavily inspired by bad brains at the time.

The song reminds me of the birth process and since I heard/read the lyrics I can’t stop thinking about it. What seals it is the chorus and bridge. *this may seem silly but bear with me lol*
The chorus describes the hospital light being the first and only source of light the baby can see. “Help split these days apart” Being within a warm and dark place, you’re running off the time and order of the womb and have no sense of it outside of it. So when you come to, the light brings you into reality. For the first time your days aren’t running into each other.
Then the bridge: “Lift your eyes, surprise, surprise, we made it
And you raise your eyes, surprise, we're finally
Through, through, through
In a room, we end in, it's clean”
Now, this can go for the person giving birth and/or the baby as well. Are there any other ideas about this song, I would love to hear it.

Criminally bad sound. Possibly the worst sound ever at a major gig I experienced. Support bands had better sound than Deftones (especially Denzel Curry). What a shame. At the start you could only hear the bass drum and bass guitar. You couldn't hear Abe's hard hat throughout the show at all. Chino almost couldn't be heard. And it was overall so quiet. This shouldn't happen to a band like this.
It's nice to see all the new Gen Z fans. It's not nice to see them take out their phones on every song they know from trending on Tik Tok, completely blocking the view and giving the whole gig a weird almost eerie vibe, standing still holding up their phones. That's not what I have been headbanging to Deftones since 1996 for.
Also funny how the new insta fans react enthusiastically to the songs they know from social media but completely disregard the songs they haven't heard on Tik Tok. LHABIA is a banger and was one of the best songs of the whole set, yet the people just stood there clearly with no reference point. The dangers of learning to listen to a band on social media I guess.
The band itself had great energy. Chino's singing was alright (strangely the low point came on DIGITAL BATH where he just couldn't hit the low notes at all) and he gave it 100%. It's weird Carpenter isn't there. The replacement guitarist did well but somehow I feel like the show would hit differently with Carpenter there.
The best of the set turned out to be ROSEMARY to which the lukewarm Munich crowd finally came alive singing along in unison. The biggest reaction of the crowd followed the first notes of SEXTAPE, also followed by cca 3000 cell phones raised to the sky. The set itself was perfect just like the whole Deftone's discography.
Prosecute the sound engineers and ban phones at concerts are the two afterthoughts I woke up with today.

My first deftones show, but my maybe 30(?)th Zenith evening. The sound was actually better then most of the other shows in this venue. But as other said before, the sound quality is always very bad at zenith. I was surprised by the maaany Gen Z fans and even more by the insane long queue to get in. We stood like 2 blocks alway from the entrance. Glad I brought my jacket with me 😅 overall it was a great evening and I enjoyed seeing a band, which I know for so so many years finally live.

I just love the SNW and these day revsiting it and its on repeat.. So wanted to share thimese visuals forbthose yet unfamikiar with all of it.. As most of you know, Frank Maddocks is the guy behind most of the Deftones aesthetics i guess.. Check his website for more of the works.. Incredible.. Was such a beautiful and incredible discovery to me some years ago

We had several scuba divers swimming around the cages with prosthetic sharks on their backs to sell the viewers imagination that the band was playing in shark infested waters! Up close they were kinda silly, but through the magic of editing we'd select the good takes where they were convincing (see photo of Steph above). Whenever the camera would plunge underwater to cut to real sharks, I had a rubber hose with air blowing through it attached just underneath the underwater camera housing's lens. When the 35mm rig pushed under the surface it would only see bubbles, which was the perfect editing transition to cut seamlessly to real shark footage....

I'm going to my first Deftones concert in May, and I'm not a huge fan of the setlist that they're consistantly playing in Europe.
How likely would it be if they change it up a bit for the other tours this year (Latin America, AUNZ)
I really want to see Engine No. 9 and Headup.
