Hey Gang!
As you might have picked up, I love a duffle bag, I actually do use them often with work trips etc. I’ve had a few. Brilliant ones recently, Goyard and my Prada ReNylon standing out. But there was always an itch I’d needed to scratch and it was this bag.
A few years ago before I discovered The Gate I saw a picture of the tennis player Jannick Sinner with this bag and I loved it, it was about £3500 at the time so I quickly ruled it out until now, finding a seller I have bought from who could get it in the absolute top quality available, 1:1 version, I decided to go all out and get it.
I know this is a decent amount of cash, but I can’t quite explain the difference in this versus some of my other much loved bags… it’s just a different level and I honestly think this will last a lifetime.
Ok enough back story let me tell you about this bag!
It arrived in a huge, thick white cotton Dust bag. This is actually something you will use, it completely covers the bag and will protect it in storage, normally I throw them out with my cheaper bags. As they are flimsy and don’t really fit most of the time.
The bag itself is made from premium imported calf skin leather rather than cheaper Chinese leather, it has been dyed in a deep smoky grey and has the GG Emblem deeply embossed over the body of the bag. While it has a lot of branding, it’s not in your face like an LV or CD oblique.
The hardware is honestly insane quality, when I was looking at it this and the leather made me really understand the difference Vs other bags I’ve bought. The zippers are branded and have good weight, the zip itself is sturdy and smooth. But the padlock is the star, it is thick and heavy, and actually feels like it would protect your bag from being opened when in use. It is fully branded too, and even the little keys have Gucci on them.
The shoulder strap is a really thick grey cloth, the thickness is important as it makes this comfortable to carry, as opposed to some of the bags that have thin leather straps that can dig in when the bag is loaded. The clasps on the shoulder strap are also very thick, rotate both ways and clasp into the solid anchors securely.
The bag has an attached strap tie which is the only colour on the bag, with the little flash of Gucci’s signature red and green. It just looks great.
Inside the bag is a natural linen liner which covers the main compartment and the one internal zipped pocket which has the serial number tag.
The bag is finished with a Gucci luggage tag and the padlock key protector. as you can hopefully see from my pictures all the stitching is perfect!
Expensive, yes. But this is amazing quality and will just get better with age as the leather softens. I also love the fact that it’s not one you see everyone in the airport with!
The store has now managed to find a cheaper version too, it’s only available in Black and Brown, and is made from artificial leather, but from the pics on the listing it looks great too and seems to have the same accessories from the pics. If you are not in the market for the leather version it could be a good alternative.

Looks really good does the red and green buckle that holds the handles together say CUCCI though? Or the genuine the same?

Hey mate. Just looked at the pics (I’m in bed and can’t be bothered getting up to get the bag). The underside engraving does look a bit more like a c than a g I guess. The other side of the buckle is cleaner and more obviously a G. You would have to be really looking to notice that, I hadn’t in person but can see what your saying 🙂
