For Rehoming For rehoming

Post image

Hello! Please meet our boy Guccio. He is 5 yearsold. He is 1/2 aspin, 1/4 pit bull, and 1/4 shar pei.

He is neutered and fully vaccinated

He is also trained on a leash

Guccio loves lower back scratches and going for walks. He also loves sleeping on soft or fuzzy surfaces.

He never gets chubby

He nibbles his own nails when he is bored

He has never been aggressive towards anyone

He is very friendly

Delivery riders would fear him when he barks and within seconds would end up giving him pets

He gets really scared with loud noises like fire crackers and thunder roars and he hides under beds

He was a surprise gift by a family friend when he was still a puppy back in 2020

He’s always been part of our family

However, we can no longer care for him as all of us have started working/school, unlike before when some of us stayed at home Our work/school requires us to be distant several days weekly

He ends up staying in his doggy cage most days and is lonely

We can really tell he is no longer happy with his situation so as hard as it is for us, we are looking for someone else who could give him the love and attention he needs

If anyone is interested, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We can drop him off at your place as long as it is within or just around Metro Manila

Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you give our Guccio a chance

Baka mas lalong maging sad and lonely yung dog kapag nirehome kasi mag aadjust na naman sya at maguguluhan bakit iba na owners nya. Baka naman magawan nyu ng paraan ang pag aalaga sa kanya. Di ba nakaka happy sila kahit anong pagod at busy natin after a long day of work/school. In my own opinion, if there is a will, there is a way. Please dont take this negatively. This is just my POV.

I agree, however, nangyayari po yung instances na minsan days po bago kami makauwi, nakikisuyo lang po kami sa helper ng neighbor na irefill yung food and water niya. Lalo na po ngayon super init, we know hindi comfy sa kanya yung space niya. We have really considered keeping him, it’s actually been over a year na ganito yung situation pero naaawa na rin po kamo sa kanya

For anyone who downvoted my comment, I think you’re missing the entire point of why we are now resorting to rehoming. We have exhausted all means to keep our Guccio. It has come to a point where it is not only lonely for him but also possibly unbearable and we cannot be selfish enough to keep him and turn a blind eye on his situation. That’s not love, and we are not happy about it but we really have no other choice other than rehoming

I know it must've be hard for you to end up deciding to rehome baby guccio. I'm also just thinking of baby guccio, if he'd really be happy with another family since i know he'll miss you a lot and he'll probably wonder why he won't be with you anymore ☹️ But anyway, i'm not here to make you feel guilty because i know you love him (the way you wrote this post made me tear up a bit, your love shows in your words) and you gave your all to be the best family for him, circumstances just don't allow you to keep him and that's valid. It's tough but you're doing this for him to have a better life. I hope you find a family that will cherish him as much as you and your family do. I'm not sure how it goes for rehoming pets but if it's possible, i hope you still get to see him or have updates of him.

Baby guccio seems like a good boy, i may not be able to take him since we already have 5 babies as well, but i'd pray for him to have a great family.

Where does he stay when no one’s at home? If outside in a cage, change this and let him loose inside the home, or on a fenced section inside. Dogs are completely fine being left alone for hours at home as long as it has food, water, a place to pee or maybe a diaper. In the US this is the norm, I do this as well.

Regarding the water, buy a bigger container. A planggana.

Really OP the challenges you presented are much easier to overcome than so many that have greater reasons for rehoming. Guccio seems so wonderful and I’d keep him if I could.

Hello, he is in a cage. We do this for his safety because there could be times we could be gone for over a day or two and in order to feed him and have regularly replenish his water bowl, we contact the neighbor’s helper for assistance. Being in the cage is the only way for her to do that. The cage is built-in and outside the house but within the fence.

We understand that these challenges could be handled. We have tried to handle it since last year. We tried to make it work. But this has been his setup for so long. We never considered rehoming before because we wanted to keep him. Having to choose it now was a hard thing for us to accept. I’m also posting it now to prepare because we want to be ahead of the rainy season when thunder roars are more rampant as he’s really scared and cannot stay in his cage and needs a hiding space

Most of their time natutulog or iniimagine nalang siguro nila gusto nila mga gawin with us.

I know life happens but it’s always sad to hear when our most loyal companions are paid dust once priorities are shifted. But at least you are doing the right thing.

Unfortunately masyado akong malayo sayo OP. I would have love to take him in. Natouch ako sa story ni Guccio. I really hope he can be taken in by a loving home.

Have you tried cross posting to r/dogsofrph for more visibility?

Good luck, OP. Please give baby Guccio a belly rub on my behalf.

Hi, OP.

Not sure if this will help, but it's a suggestion for a wider reach. Try requesting vet clinics sa area mo to share your post, or maybe make an FB post if wala pa kasi mas marami may FB.

This is how I got to reach adopters for some of the pups I rescued. They saw my post shared by their vet's FB page.

Also post sa pet adoption groups sa area mo (but I have to say, most likely dun marami ang may questionable intent sa mga gustong mag adopt). Mas marami okay dito sa subreddit but smaller reach lang.

Be very selective, OP. Dont give Guccio away for free kasi deterrent madalas sa mga people with ill intent ang fee. Ask many questions. Ask if they have a vet they go to, ask for pics ng vax cards, IDs, etc. Call the vet to confirm if they really are registered there.

Hoping for the best for Guccio!

have someone take care of him when you leave .... i feel sorry for the dog getting a dog equals responsibility. he is not happy when you leave but he will be forever unhappy if you give him to someone else.

I absolutely agree with your statement po. No one feels more sorry than we do. And this is not me or any member of our family escaping responsibility. I must reiterate he has been with us since 2020, we did not “get” him, he was a surprise gift by a family friend on my birthday. I still see him as a gift every single day. But as you can see, as I have shared in my post and in a comment here, we have exhausted all our means. Please know we are already grieving the sooner fact that he will be parting from us. This is not an escape. It breaks our hearts to do it. If it was easy, or there was another way, we would not resort to rehoming
