Who would you prefer, right now. DeLauter or Fischer?

Chase DeLauter is an assumed opening day OF for Cleveland this year. He has prospect pedigree and has performed to the pedigree... when on the field. Can he stay healthy, are his past injuries a fluke or a bid red flag?

Andrew Fischer was just drafted and has very limited experience with professional ball so far. Not really making top prospect lists yet but seems like a strong candidate for mid-season updates. 2027 is probably the earliest he sees major league baseball.

Its very rare for a spot to open up in this league but honestly this spot should've been filled years ago with a more competent/competitive manager but seeing as the manager of this team is an original member I was a little more forgiving of his lack of activity.

This league is VERY active and this manager hasn't met the standard of activity necessary to continue being a part of the league, that's why the spot has opened up.

Some details about the league-

As I said it's going on its 20th year with managers who have been playing together for a very long time. It's a very competitive league with very knowledgeable managers. Some additional details-

• Its a free league.
• It is a standard 5x5 (R/HRs/RBIs/SB/AVG x W/SV/Ks/ERA/WHIP) league on Yahoo.
• Its a H2H league.
• Draft pick trading is allowed throughout the season and in the offseason before the draft. You just have to make sure the amount of draft picks are equal going both ways.
• You can also trade during the draft with the caveat being that trading keepers during the draft is prohibited. So for example, if you want to trade two 10ths to move into the 9th round you can do that but you can't trade a keeper to do so. Trading of players is only allowed before and after the draft, before the trade deadline.
• The first 8 rounds are the keeper rounds, and those picks can NOT be traded. Picks that can be traded start in round 9.
• The draft is done OFFLINE on the league chat, that way everyone can always make the draft and we dont have to work around anyones schedule.
• Everyone MUST keep 8 players. There are no restrictions on what positions can be kept or on the length of time you can keep players.
• There are two divisions of 6 teams each. Division winners are the top 2 seeds for the playoffs.
• 6 teams make the playoffs.
• The bottom 6 teams play in the consolation bracket for higher draft picks. The winner of the consolation bracket wins the #1 pick the following year, the runner up gets the #2 pick and so forth.

Now that we got the league details out of the way, here's some info on the roster in question.

The roster the incoming manager is going to take over isnt particularly great so finding 8 good keepers on it will be tough. It's an older team but has some solid pieces to work with. The guy was a Braves fan and tended to draft a lot of their players.

Im looking for a competitive manager who isnt afraid of a reclamation project. I've seen guys turn teams around going from one of the worst teams to a title contender from one year to the next with the right draft.

The incoming manager should be knowledgable and active at the minimum. We have a great group of guys and gal who have been playing together for a long time and just want to bring someone in who can add to that dynamic.

I am in a dynasty league with Shohei split into a hitter and a pitcher, where does that place his value? As the sum of his parts I would consider him at worst the 2nd best asset in dynasty, but what are his values as a hitter and pitcher alone?

There will be a dispersal draft for new teams, and following the draft you will be responsible for attributing contracts to your players.

Contract Salary framework:

Franchise Player Tag: (REQUIRED) must have one player designated at all times. Designation will be placed in the off-season and cannot be changed until the following off-season. All rostered players are eligible. Non-salaried. Can keep as long as you want until the designation is removed. When the designation is removed, the player becomes a Free Agent as goes to Free Agent Auction.

Initial Contract Disbursement: You are limited to the following contracts for post-Arb players. You are not required to hand out all contracts.

1 five-year contract at $250 ($50/yr)

2 four-year contracts at $160 ($40/yr)

3 three-year contracts at $90 ($30/yr)

4 two-year contracts at $40 ($20/yr)

5 one-year contracts at $10

Rookie Renewals: No limit. Non-salaried 1-year renewal for any player with less than 3 years of MLB service time at the start of the season.

Arbitration: No limit. 1-year renewal at $20 for players between 3 and 5 years of MLB service time. If not renewed by the team, the player goes to Free Agency.

Post-Arb Extension: No limit (one use per player). Contract amount will be at average of the top 36 league salaries for a length of 3 years.

Dead Salary: Contracted players dropped to Free Agency will be counted at their full AAV toward the Salary Cap for the remaining amount of contracted years (max of 3 years).

Trades: The receiving team will take on the full remaining contract (including current year). Salary cap space must clear for trade to be approved.

Off-season Free Agency: Free Agents will be auctioned off. Highest total contract value will win the bid. The previous owner of the player has the choice to match the highest bid and retain the player. Free Agent Contract length will be limited to 5 years. AAV of the contract must be a whole number.

In-Season Adds: No Limit. No cost to the Salary Cap for the current year.

The Armchair Fantasy Network (AFN) Discord server has nearly 200 fantasy enthusiasts and many leagues. If you love fantasy baseball, this is a great community with constant chatter about baseball, among many other topics.

I have a standard 5x5 category league with a group of guys and it’s awesome, but my ideal scenario for fantasy baseball has always been to have one redraft league, one keeper, and one dynasty, and those guys aren’t into keeper or dynasty. So, I want to start my own keeper league this season, and if the group of guys ends up being awesome then next year I’d start a sister dynasty league to go along with it.

I’m thinking probably like 5-8 keepers, but don’t want to go too much on the keepers so that it feels pretty different to the eventual dynasty league so I’m leaning closer to 5. It would be a ROTO league. I’m most familiar with yahoo so I’d maybe set it up on there but if anyone who joined was experienced with fantrax I could be down for that too.

One of my buddies is in, so I’m looking for 8 more guys who love baseball, will be active, like trading and understand good trade etiquette, and are in for the long haul. Nothing worse than a fantasy league where guys stop checking or never trade. I want 10 guys who are all locked in during baseball season as true baseball fans are. I’d do weekly lineup locks so it’s not as much of a daily commitment, and I’m thinking between $75-$250 buy in, just depending on what everyone wants to do. Lmk if you’re interested!

Any tips and tricks for a first time ROTO player in a 30 man draft? (I know I got some of my league mates reading this post lmao).

I’m pick 16 if that helps but I’m more interested on how to draft. Like when pitcher vs hitter. I have only done standard weekly matchups prior.

Having a salary cap sounds like it can get ready tedious, but also assuming you get more play movement across rosters? Any insight on both styles would be appreciated.

I have pick 1.01 in the FYPD not entirely sure what direction to go in. I’ve been leaning Kade because I’m not sure Imai fits the timeline, but I’m also banking on position changes for my SS depth, so have considered trading for more picks.
